100 Most Beautiful Words in the English Language

The website Deshoda brings you a list of the 100 Most Beautiful Words in the English Language.  I’m sharing it with you because I was really impressed at the amount of words on this list that I had never even heard of.

What you have to decide for yourself is why have these words made the list. Is it because they sound attractive? Is it because they are spelled attractively? Is it their meaning? I think it is the way they sound.  Go ahead read a few out loud. I think they roll off the tongue nicely.

This is a great way to add words to your vocabulary. I learned ailurophile, ebullience, and palimpsest. I mean who knew that I was an ailurophile? I sure didn’t, but now I do! I wish they had included mendacity or mendacious. I love the way that word rolls off the tongue which I owe to my drama teacher from high school.

If beautiful words aren’t enough, maybe you’ll also want to check out this listing of 100 Whimsical words [1] that was also put together by Deshoda. There you’ll find words like cattywampus, kerfuffle,  and perspicacious!

Both list are excellent! Check them out today!
