A More Perfect Union

Welcome to A More Perfect Union, an interactive, multimedia history site presented by the Smithsonian to help you explore the history of Japanese Americans and their relationship with the U.S. Constitution.

The enriched multimedia experience begins directly on the main page. Click the listen button to hear the introduction to the site, or click the read button to read the introduction.

Then you’ll have to decide if you want the rich-media or the printer friendly experience of the site. I fully recommend the rich-media version.

Once you’ve made your decision about what version of the site you want to visit you’ll have these exploration options: Overview, Immigration, Removal, Internment, Loyalty, Service, and Justice.

After you’ve explored all the content you many want to check out the Reflections section where you can respond with your own thoughts and put down what feelings the site evoked for you, or you could check out what others have shared.

You can use the Collection Search page, to search easily within the collection for something specific. And don’t miss out on the Resources page, where you can find information on the creation of original exhibits, a historical overview, two classroom activities and so much more to enrich your experience.
