Adding MySpace Pictures and Videos
Do you have a MySpace profile? If you do, you may have seen pictures and even videos on some of your friends’ pages. Think those are cool? How would you like to have some on yours as well? One of the neatest things you can do with your MySpace page is add pictures and videos to it for all of your friends and family to see. And lucky for you, that’s exactly what you’re going to learn how to do today. Let’s get started!
Step 1: The first thing you need to do to add pictures to your MySpace page is to sign up for a photo hosting account. A photo hosting account is nothing more than a place to store pictures online. The most popular photo hosting Web site for MySpace seems to be Photobucket.com. Photobucket is a great photo hosting site, because it offers tools for resizing photos for various Web uses, as well as, a variety of different types of Web codes used for posting pictures online.
When signing up for a Photobucket account, you will need nothing more than an e-mail address. The whole sign up process takes about five minutes or less. There’s not any endless pages of forms to fill out here. A few clicks and you’re ready to start sharing your pictures on MySpace!
Step 2: Once you have your Photobucket account in place, you will need to start adding some photos to it.
To do this, click on the Browse button in the blue box labeled Upload Images & Videos.
This will bring up the familiar File Upload screen.
Navigate your way to the picture you wish to add to your MySpace page and click on it. The location of the file is now in the box beside the Upload button.
Now, click the Upload button. Your picture is now being uploaded to your Photobucket account. It may take a few minutes, based on the size of your file.
When it’s done, your uploaded file will appear near the bottom of the page.
Step 3: After you have all the images you want uploaded to your Photobucket account, it’s time to start copying the code you’ll need for your MySpace profile. Decide which picture you want to add first. Now, find that picture on your Photobucket page. Under the image, you will see three boxes of code. You’ll want to click inside of the box labeled HTML Tag.
Step 4: Now, you will want to sign in to your MySpace account. Once you are logged in, you will want to click on the link titled Edit Profile.
You will now need to decide where you want your picture to show up on your profile page. For this article, let’s say you want to post a picture of your favorite singer under the music section of your profile. To do that, all you need to do is locate the music section and click once inside of the text box under the music section.
Right click you mouse and select Paste.
Step 5: The last thing you need to do is click the Save All Changes button at the top of the page and you’re done!
So, you found a great picture of your favorite singer on your computer, you got it uploaded to Photobucket and pasted the code into MySpace. Then you went to check out how your profile looked with your favorite new picture, only to find the picture was so big, it took over the whole screen and made your MySpace page a pain to even look at. What do you do now?
The answer is simple. Don’t delete the code from your MySpace page. We are going to go back into Photobucket and resize it there. That way, you won’t have to worry about repasting the code in MySpace.
Step 1: Find the photo you want to resize in your Photobucket account. Above the picture, there will be a link that says Edit. Click that.
Step 2: Now, you will see another link above the picture that says Resize. Click that.
Step 3: Next, you need to decide what size you want the picture to be. You have a few options and they are:
- Avatar – This is a very small image. You probably wouldn’t use this in MySpace. This would be used if you needed to make a picture really small for a profile image on another Web site.
- Thumbnail – This is one resizing option you could use for MySpace. It is still a pretty small image, but it works well if you want to add a few pictures to one section of your profile
- Web site or E-mail – This is the perfect size for MySpace. It is a medium sized image and it fits perfect anywhere on MySpace.
- Message Board – This is almost too big for MySpace. The only place I would place an image this size on MySpace is in the About Me section.
Step 4: Now, decide what size you want the image to be and click on it. It should automatically change the size of the image you posted earlier.
To add a video to your MySpace profile, you are going to follow almost the exact steps as you would for adding a photo.
Step1: Remember where you clicked to upload pictures in Photobucket? Well, right above that box, there is link that says Choose Image or Video. You will want to click on Video.
Step 2: Now, just follow steps 2 and 4 up above for adding pictures.
Step 3: Videos are much larger than pictures and don’t resize well. You can post videos in any of the categories on your MySpace page, such as music, books, movies, etc. I would recommend posting videos in the About Me section of your profile. This way, they won’t affect the overall layout of your page.
There you have it! Now your MySpace page will be as hip as new!
