Ever notice when you’re working in OpenOffice Writer that the apostrophe is a small vertical line.
I haven’t seen one like that in years. I’m used to the “curly” version of quotes and apostrophes and would be less distracted by them if that’s the way they looked.
OK – maybe it’s a small thing but when your eye is constantly drawn to it I find it distracting. It’s like the editing errors in a movie, once I notice the different position of an item or someone’s hair I can’t help but notice it every time I see that scene – it’s just plain annoying.
So, if you’re anything like me and would just prefer the more apostrophe look then it’s just a quick change in settings and you’re all set.
We’re starting at the Tools menu, AutoCorrect Options choice.
Once you’re in the AutoCorrect dialog box you need the Custom Quotes tab.
Check the Replace box in the Single Quotes section and then click OK.
From now on, any apostrophe will show up as we’re used to seeing them.
