George from Trinidad asks:
Is there a way to put a list of items in alphabetical order in Open Office?
Hi, George. I hope that this answers your question. If not, please feel free drop by the comments section and let me know.
The easiest way to alphabetize a list in OO is to use the “Calc” program. For instance, say that I wanted to alphabetize the following list of animals:
I would simply enter them into the same column in Calc, thus:
Next, I would click on the “sort ascending” button found here:
Now I have this:
You can also sort from z to a by using the “sort descending” button, found here:
This also works for numbers. If you want to do multiple columns, the best way is to go to your toolbar and click the “Data” tab, and go down to “Sort”.
This will open a window that looks like this:
Now you can enter your parameters and sort several columns at once. This trick also works with Excel.
Hope that this helps.
