Computers 101

Q:
In yesterday's tip you showed us how to automatically arrange our icons by right-clicking the desktop. That's great, but how do I put them in the order I want them in - like a custom order?

A:
I did forget to mention that, but it's really easy. Just drag the icons to the location you want them. Nothin' to it.

If your icons won't move out of their current location, you may have them set to "Auto arrange". Right-click your desktop, Arrange icons by, and make sure the "Auto Arrange" option is unchecked.

Tip of the Day

Quick Stops

Web Link - http://www.worldstart.com/tips/quickstops.htm

Have you ever clicked the wrong link while you were browsing? Don't you just hate that? You frantically try to get your mouse up to the Stop button before you end up at the wrong page, but you don't always make it. So, here's a few suggestions:

If you've clicked the wrong link and still have that left mouse button pressed down, just drag your pointer off the link to a blank spot and release. No harm done.

But what if you've already clicked the link and you're off to the wrong page? Is there any hope?

Yup, just hit your Escape key. That will stop your browser in it's tracks - it's also a good way to stop an onslaught of pop up windows.

Cool Site of the Day

This site isn't for everyone, but we couldn't resist!

Toiletology 101

"This site is a lighthearted but thorough toilet maintenance course that teaches do-it-yourselfers the mechanics of a toilet, various types of
repairs, and even how to really clean one, an uncomfortably intimate process involving a mirror and black light. This site even has a "toilet in the news" section. Completion of the course earns you lifetime membership in the Society of Crapperologists. You can even order an official membership certificate - which means of course, you've earned your papers."

This is a very cute site on toilet repair, well done, with great pictures. I enjoyed the opening page immensely, with the introduction to the class. Check it out.

Oh, and we're looking for non-commercial sites. We generally don't run sites that are strictly for shopping.
