Q: First, set up a folder the way you want it to be. Here's how to do that: 1. Open the My Computer icon on your desktop (or in Windows XP, from your Start menu). At this point, you can open your C: drive and pick a favorite folder to play with, but you really don't need to. You can set this right from My Computer. 2. Using the View menu, set the folder to the way you want all your folders to be. For example, if you're like me, you want to see all file info. So, I selected the View menu, Details.
Next, set your icon arrangement. Using the View menu, click the Arrange Icons item and select your favorite sort order. I personally prefer "By Type", but do what you want.
3. OK, now let's make all your little folders act the same way. Click the View menu (or Tools menu, depending on your version of Windows) and select Folder Options. Click the View tab and click the "Like Current Folder" or "Apply to all folders" button. It will ask you for confirmation, press "Yes". Finally, press the OK button and you're all set.
To give it a test run, open any folder on your C: drive, it should look exactly the way you want it to.
Explorer Takeovers Web link - http://www.worldstart.com/tips/explorertakeovers.htm Has your Internet Explorer been taken over? No, not by aliens, by something far worse - a big company. Maybe they've stuck a message in your title bar or perhaps they've even replaced your beloved spinning "e" with (gasp) their own logo. (That spinning logo is actually called a "throbber" - no kidding!) If your Internet Explorer is a corporate abductee, don't worry - I've been there too. Until I discovered this little trick, one of our computers would display the page title and follow it up with "Provided by Compaq". How nice of them to provide me with every page on the internet. Well, do you want to reclaim your browser? Are you ready to take back what's yours? To make Explorer look like its default self again, do the following: 1. Make sure you don't have a browser window open. 2. Hit the Start button, Run 3. Type in this line (or better yet, copy & paste): rundll32.exe iedkcs32.dll,Clear
Click OK You'll discover that absolutely nothing seems to happen. However, before you decide I'm telling you to type in gibberish just to see if you'll actually do it, open Explorer and check it out. You should find it looks very default now. No company logos, no extra corporate comments in your title bar. PS - If anyone knows how to change the little throbber (spinning logo), let me know. I've never run across a way to do that.
Have you ever wondered what a million or even a trillion pennies looks like? Well this site puts things into perspective starting with the lowly single cent and climbing to enormous heights literally topping out at One Quintillion pennies. You can also catch the MegaFauna feature, and the MegaMoo special bonus edition of the series. I thought all in all this was rather nifty, and is definitely worth a few clicks. Check it out! http://www.kokogiak.com/megapenny/ Do you have a cool site that you want to share? Send it to Amanda! Here's her address: Oh, and we're looking
for non-commercial sites. We generally don't run sites that are strictly
for shopping.
