Quicken 2002 - Only $8.97!! We ran this eariler today in our Software Deals newsletter and it's selling like crazy! So, get in on this ASAP or you may miss out! Have you ever thought you needed to start keeping better track of your finances? If so, you'll love how easy this program is going to make your life! It does everything from writing checks to tracking investments. Here's an overview: First, it makes writing checks easy. It even remembers previously entered information so you don't have to re-type the same thing over and over. From there, just print your checks (if you want to / need to hand write your checks, you can still do that too). Oh, you can also send payments online (you should see the system for that, it's so easy!) and get reminders of when things are due. No more "I can't believe I forgot to make that payment" problems! Next, it makes balancing your checkbook a snap. Instead of sitting around for an hour with a calculator and pen, click a button and you're balanced. That by itself would be enough reason to buy this program! Have you ever asked yourself, "Where does all our money go?" Well, with Quicken, you can find out! Just have it generate a graph or report. You can see where you're at with just a glance! It can generate reports for: Banking Summary And more (note that there are dozens of other reports / graphs, the above is just for tracking how you spend)!! What about investments, assets, and loans? Yes, it can track them for you as well! Using this program, you can get a complete finical picture of how your doing, where your money is going, and where to plug the "holes". For $8.97 (Free US Shipping of course), you just can't go wrong. Imagine how much more comfortable you'll be knowing exactly where you are with your finances every month. You'll be able to tell what you can afford, you're checkbook will be a snap to balance, and the reminder feature won't let you forget another bill. Note this is what they call the "new user" edition. It's the "Standard" edition of Quicken, but you can't import old Quicken files. However, it has an upgrade option built in (if you upgrade you can import old quicken files). Once the software is installed, you can upgrade from the standard edition to the deluxe edition for $29.95 (you don't have to, but the option is there should you want to). Since the retail on the deluxe edition is $59.95, it's a really good deal. Plus if you upgrade from within the program, you just enter a code - no waiting for a new CD! http://www.worldstart.com/store/quickennewuser.htm We are expecting this to fly out the door today, so be sure to get your order in early or you may miss out!!
Q: What is Spyware? How do I know if I have it on my computer?
A: Note that if a program alerts you that your personal information may be shared it is not "technically" spyware.
Spyware programs can be extremely annoying and can wreak havoc on your system. They can cause slow downs, lockups, and all sorts of other problems. The bad news is there are hundreds of these types of programs out there.
After uninstalling a common piece of spyware from a friend's system, I ran an awesome little program called Ad-Aware. It does an amazing job of seeking out and destroying hundreds of different spyware/scumware programs - Even if they are buried in the deepest recesses of your computer. In all, it got rid of 20 different programs on his system! After a reboot, his system ran so smooth it was unbelievable. It was slick, Im telling ya. He was starting to think that he needed a format and reinstall of the operating system. I still think he should have given me money for fixing his system with this program though, but what can ya do? I know, Ill just ask Steve for a raise :-)
To get this program, follow the link below. I've included a few basic instructions on how to use it under the link.
First, download and install it from this location: http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10106-100-7302674.html
Once youve installed it, open the program up. On your left pane the program gives you a list of different places to scan. For times sake, just check all the boxes that it allows you to. Then click the Start button.
The program will then scan your entire system. Just sit back and relax and let it do its job. Once the program has finished, click the Continue button and it will present you with a list of programs that it has discovered. Check all the boxes next to the listed programs. From there, tell it to remove those components and reboot!
Wall-ah! Your system is now free from problem causing Spyware and Scumware.. Well, until you download another suspected program at least. It may be a good idea to re-download and run this program every few months, as they constantly update the software. ~ Jonathon

Outlook Express Folders - Part 2 OK, yesterday we did the first part of this tip where we learned how to save (or send) an outlook express folder. Today, we're going to go over what to do with that saved (or sent) folder once you get it to the computer you want it on. So... 1. Follow the procedure we did yesterday on the recipient's computer to figure out where it's storing its Outlook Express mail. 2. Save the stored folder to that location. If it was e-mailed, double-click the attachment and do a "Save As". If you have it on a disk or CD, you'll need to copy and paste it into the store folder. Note that if you're using a CD you may need to take off the "read only" attribute (right-click the file, Properties. Then uncheck the "Read only" checkbox if it's checked). For more on Copy & Paste, head to: http://www.worldstart.com/tips/copypaste.htm 3. OK your file should be sitting in the "Store" folder now. However, that's just not going to be enough. You'll need to go to that location and delete the "Folders" file (note that Outlook Express will need to be shut off for you to do this).
Your "Folders" file keeps track of what folders you have in Outlook Express. However, it's not smart enough to look for new folders each time you load the program. It only lists what it "knows" are there. When you delete it, Outlook Express is forced to create a new "Folders" file. This new one will include the ALL the folders in the directory (including the new one you just added). After you've deleted the file, start Outlook Express again. The new folder should be listed. That should do it. I know it seems long and involved, but it really isn't all that hard. Oh, and yes, this would be a great way to backup and restore Outlook Express mail when you get a new computer or need to reformat the old one. Have

A few days ago I ran a website that would tell you what any acronym means. That was a great source for some of you. The rest seemed to be looking for Internet Lingo rather than acronyms. Never fear because todays cool site is nothing but internet lingo. So before I have to GTHTGTTA, head on over to todays cool site. Do you have a cool site that you want to share? Send it to us! Here's the address: Oh, and we're looking
for non-commercial sites. We generally don't run sites that are strictly
for shopping.
