Announcements

Just a few things today.

First off, our special on the American Sign Language Dictionary had an incredible response over the weekend (we sold hundreds of them).

If you missed out, this program will teach you sign language using video examples, pictures, and more. Just look up a word and watch someone making the sign! It also has finger spelling, skill tests (more like games), and a background section. It's an excellent title and has won a ton of awards. It really is the best way to learn sign language.

It's only $14.97 (retail $49.95) and shipping is FREE if you live in the US. So, be sure to give it a look:

Part 2

OK, here's the other thing I wanted to mention. Over the weekend we had a fantastic clarence sale for our Software Deals subscribers. We knew it would be big, but we sold about TWICE what we thought we would. So, I've decided to extend this sale to everyone until 06-04-2002 (tomorrow).

Here's a link to that issue, so you can take advantage. Note that many of the titles are already sold out or very close to it, so get to the link ASAP if you want to grab some software (and Father's day is coming up ya know).

And Finally - Archives

We've been getting a lot of requests for archives lately. If that's you, head to this link:

You'll find archives for both this newsletter and our MS Office Tips newsletter.

PS - Remember, there's a link on the left for archives too :-)

Computers 101

Q:
Why does my monitor go black after about 15 minutes of not using the computer?

A:
Windows has a Power Management setting that will shut your monitor off after a specified amount of time. If you don't like when it's shutting the monitor off, you can change it by doing the following:

1. Hit the Start button, Settings, Control Panel (XP users: hit the Start button, Control Panel, then go to Performance and Maintenance link). Then, open the Power Management icon.

2. Look for the "Turn off monitor" drop box. Select the amount of time you want the computer to wait before shutting off the monitor, or tell it not to shut the monitor off at all.

Tip of the Day

Quicker Access With IE Favorites

Here's a cool little trick MS Internet Explorer users will like.

If you're like me, you have WAY too many "favorites." You click your Favorites folder and down drop hundreds of web sites. Well, here's a little trick that will help:

Click the "Favorites" menu, then press the first letter of the favorite you're looking for on your keyboard. The first item with that letter will be highlighted.

If that isn't the right favorite, tap the letter again. The next favorite beginning with that letter will be highlighted. Once you land on the favorite you're trying to find, hit the Enter key.

And, no, this doesn't work with Netscape (big shock there, huh?).

Amanda's Cool Site of the Day

Tip of the Iceberg

Have you ever been curious about icebergs? Well I found a page that will help you learn the answers to those burning questions. You can choose a news section where you can learn about the iceberg discovered in 1999 and the tracking method they have that prevents disasters like say, Titanic.

Plus the picture on this site is really cool. It shows the iceberg above water and below, so as you know it’s time to check it out!

Oh, and we're looking for non-commercial sites. We generally don't run sites that are strictly for shopping.
