OK, it's time for this week's free download! This week we have ICQ 2002. If you like instant messaging, this is one you'll want to add to your collection! Check it out - along with the Term of the Week at our homepage: That's
it for this section, enjoy the newsletter! Q: A: Let's say you're filling out an online registration form that asks for your country. If you live in Australia, you're all set since your country is towards the top. But what if you live here in the US? We have to scroll through tons of countries (many of which we've never heard of) to get to the entry for "United States." Well, here's a quicker way. When you get to the box, click the first letter of the item you're hunting for. You'll find that items beginning with that letter start popping up in the drop box. So, when you get to the box, just hit the letter "U" until "United States" comes up. No more scrolling! -- Steve :-) Getting the Most from Your Work Environment to Get the Most from You At the end of the day, are you tired? Is your back sore? Eyes strained? To work effectively and efficiently, you have to control many factors in your work area: the computer (including its peripherals), your chair, lighting, noise, temperature, and yourself. So let’s break them down one at a time. The Computer:
Your mouse should be placed in a position so that it’s easy to reach. There should be enough room to maneuver that little rodent without having to lean one way or another. You keyboard must be positioned so that your wrists will be straight when typing. Your elbows should be bent at a 90 degree angle. This must be coordinated with the positioning of your chair. The Chair:
Lighting:
Changing available lighting isn’t always practical whether at work or at home, but there are some solutions. You can change the position of your screen slightly (tilt and/or swivel), filter the light source, add a dimmer switch or add a secondary light source. Indirect lighting is best, where the light is bounced off a reflector and onto your screen. Eclipse (and others, I'm sure) makes such a light that is small, affordable and effective. Noise:
Temperature:
You:
If you take the time to adjust your work environment, you'll gain time by working more efficiently. And you will have a clearer sense of purpose and a focused determination that will cut through all the grind of today’s cluttered life styles. -- Steve Henthorn

This sight is fascinating. The museum has signs of all shapes and sizes from all over America. According to their web page the goal of this site is to “preserve, archive and display a historical collection of signs in their many types and forms.” Here, you can check out a sample of what’s at the museum by visiting the Permanent Collection. Choose an era and browse through the different signs. My particular favorite was in the Pre-neon Electric Signs. All around pretty neat site, and if you’re in Cincinnati, Ohio, you could even stop by. Enjoy! http://www.signmuseum.com/ |
