Ever Need To Look Something Up?

Then you'll love this!

We have the Britannica Ready Reference Encyclopedia (New for 2002) on sale for, (are you ready for this?) only $8.97 - and US Shipping is FREE!

Have you ever needed to find a quick answer to a burning question? Perhaps you were wondering exactly where you would find a "Crown-of-thorns" starfish or maybe you were curious about Maxwell's Equations. Well, you can find all that, plus information that's actually useful, in this handy reference CD ROM.

It includes over 25,000 articles, Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, maps, over 1500 photos, and even videos. It even has a "best of the web" section that helps you do research on the web! These sites (150,000 of 'em) were hand picked by the Encyclopedia Britannica editors, so yes, they are very good.

Wait, I almost forgot. It also has this awesome Research Organizer that is a must for any serious projects. It lets you keep all your information in one place - even import outside information / photos - so doing a report or research project is actually, dare I say, easy! I only wished I would have had this back when I was in school (although back then we thought Windows were what we looked out of, not something we spent the day cursing at).

Again, this is only $8.97 and yes, US Shipping is FREE! Is that a good deal or what? I really like this one and I'm glad we can offer it to you at this price. It is probably about the best deal we've ever had on this type of reference title. Heck, the Merriam-Webster Dictionary alone is worth more than $8.97!

OK, enough talk. If you want in on this deal, better act fast. Here's the link for more info:

PS - This was one of those one time, limited quantity type deals. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get more at this price, so get yours today :-)

Q:
What are Minimize, Maximize, and Close buttons?

A:
You know those three little buttons on the upper right hand corner of an open window? That's them.

The "X" closes the window.

The "Box" maximizes the program, making it full screen. If it's already maximized, it looks like a box on top of another box. If you click it in that state, it will make your window smaller.

Finally, the little "_" is the minimize button. It reduces the current window to a Taskbar button. Clicking the button on the Taskbar restores the window to its former state.

We've been getting a lot of questions lately from people who are trying to make their windows smaller. I guess big windows are out this year or something.

Anyhow, in order to re-size a window, you need to be sure it's in a "normal" state, and not Maximized. If your Maximize button is a single box (as shown above), then you can re-size. If it's a double box, click it and it will turn to a single box.

Then to resize your window, just hover your mouse cursor over an edge or corner of the window you want to re-size. It should turn into a double-arrow. Just left-click, hold and drag till the window is the size you want.

Finally, here's a hint for all you first time re-sizers: If you resize using a corner (preferably not the corner with the min, max, and close buttons) you can resize both height and width at the same time.

Tip of the Day

Colorful Title Bars

Here's a fun (albeit worthless) computer tip for ya!

Would you like to make your window title bars (the area on a window that has the program icon and name as well as the min, max, & close buttons on it) different colors? Try this:

1. Right-click your desktop and select Properties.

2. Your display settings should pop up. Select the Appearance tab. (XP users, hit the Advanced button.)

3. Click the drop down box labeled Item.

4. Select Active Title Bar from the list.

5. To the right of that drop down box, you should see two additional drop down boxes labeled Color 1 and Color 2.

6. The first Color box is the first color on your title bar. The second is the color that the first fades into. Set them however you like, you can preview the results in the little preview window above the settings.

Here's a screen shot of the properties screen from my XP machine. It's not exactly the same as earlier versions of windows, but it's very close.

I personally like black to blue.

You can see there are a bunch of other color tweaking settings there as well, so you can easily give your computer that custom feel. Have fun!
