Lots Of Updates

We've had a lot of people asking when our new ISP service is going to start. For those who didn't know, we are soon going to be offering nationwide internet access for around $14.95 a month.

We were supposed to have this up and running by now, but one of our major backbone providers is doing a massive upgrade to the network.

You see, the way it was, we were able to offer access to 90% or so of the nation, now we'll be closer to 99%. So, no matter where you live, there's an excellent chance you can get internet access with us.

Hopefully everything will be ready to go in a few more weeks. Thanks to everyone who wants to switch and has been waiting so patiently.

Scrabble & Boggle!

We still have a few of these left. If you missed out yesterday, you can get both titles for a total of only $14.97! (Free US Shipping, Intl' shipping varies). They come in a single box, but there are two CDs (we had people asking - they wanted to give one away).

These are two of our most popular word games and the orders flew in for them yesterday. Both games are a lot of fun and we're still trying to pry ourselves away from "testing" them! Be sure to get to yours before we sell out! Here's the link:

New Titles, Bargain Bin, And What's On Sale?

Rose and Jonathon have been at it again. I'm not sure on the exact number of new software titles they've added to the store, but trust me, it's a lot. In fact, I promised them that I would mention it in the newsletter so all their hard work wouldn't go unnoticed.

So, be sure to stop by our New Titles page and check out all the new stuff:

Oh, and there's lots of new stuff in the Bargain Bin too (Remember, all titles on that page are $3.97-$7.97)

Computers 101

Q:
I was surfing the Internet (work-related, of course!) and found a page I liked. I surfed ahead, figuring I could get back to it by hitting the "Back" button later, but I couldn't. It was an obscure page and I don't remember how I got there. Is there a way to find it again or am I out of luck?

A:
It's possible! Internet Explorer keeps track of the web sites you've visited in the History folder of your web browser. It’s very easy to find websites you’ve visited but didn’t realize were important until later. But beware – it will also list those websites you wish you’d never visited!

In Internet Explorer, click on the History button, or if you prefer to use the menu, click on View, Explorer Bar, History.

A box on the left side of the screen will appear and list the sites you’ve recently visited.

Click on the individual folders to expand them for more specific information on links within that website. Note that the folders will most likely be listed in alphabetical order, rather than chronological order.

All you have to do next is click on the link and it will take you where you want to go!

Tip of the Day

Clearing the History and Temporary Internet Files Folders

Have you ever had a nosey coworker, a snoopy family member, or a workplace that monitors Internet use? Want to keep them from knowing what you’ve been up to? An easy way is to clear your Internet History folder and delete the Temporary Internet Files. (This is a big help around Christmas shopping time!)

Here’s how you do it:

Open Internet Explorer and click on Tools, Internet Options. A pop-up box will appear.

To delete all your Temporary Internet files, click on the Delete Files button. It will ask you to confirm your action and will permanently delete your files when you click OK.

Note: Keep in mind that by doing this to keep others from viewing your files, you won’t be able to view them after you hit the OK button either. But don’t worry, this doesn’t delete the websites in your Favorites folder or anything drastic like that, so deleting these files aren’t a big deal. (Note the word “Temporary” in the title Temporary Internet files.)

Now, to delete all folders and sub-folders under History, simply click the Clear History button and confirm the action by hitting OK. You now have a clean History folder.

Also helpful in keeping those who are a little too curious about your personal business at bay is to choose how long you want your History folder to store the websites you’ve visited. By increasing or decreasing the number in the box next to the text “Days to keep pages in history,” you’ve essentially told your browser when to automatically purge the oldest websites when it reaches the end of the time limit you’ve specified. For example, if I entered 14 days in the box, then the Internet Explorer would periodically purge all websites I visited more than 14 days ago.

The maximum number of days you can enter to keep track of your Internet surfing history is 99. If you don’t want your nosey coworker or a family member with a birthday to view your History folder, it’s best to store them for the least amount of time you’re comfortable with, say a couple of days or a week. Also, since the disk space needed for the storage of this history increases with the number of days you enter, it’s wise to keep a history for the minimum amount of time.
