New Look

Have you stopped by the site in the last day or so? If you have, you've no doubt noticed that it's had a huge makeover. We wanted something that seemed less cluttered, more professional, and easier to navigate.

The big question is this - We like it, but do you?

Check it out:

Thanks for helping us out :-) It is appreciated :-)

Wow!

The response to the American Heritage Talking Dictionary (yes, it talks to you) was incredible yesterday!

If you missed out, here's your last chance at this title for this price (at least for a long while!). Again, you type in the word you're looking for and the dictionary pronounces it with a real human voice. If you've ever had a problem figuring out the pronunciation of a word, you can already see how cool it would be to own one of these CDs. Oh, and yes, it can also help you with the spelling of a word you don't know!

In addition, it also features a thesaurus, maps, and pictures to go along with the definitions - all fully integrated.

Normally we have to sell these for $12.95 (retail is $39.95), but for this week only you can get them for $8.97ea! And yes, US Shipping is still FREE! What a deal huh? Well, don't wait any longer - I'm starting to run low on this one! Here's the link with more info:

Don't miss out on this one! I can't recommend it highly enough!!

Computers 101

Q:
Not trying to sound too Bono-esque, but "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" on this certain insanely long web page with Internet Explorer. I think the information I need is there, but I can't find it hiding among the insurmountable number of paragraphs, sentences, words and images. Is there an easier way to find what I'm looking for?

A:
Yes! The n
ext time this happens to you, hit the Edit menu, Find (or CTRL+F for you shortcut lovers). You'll get a handy little Find box that lets you type in a specific word. After you type in your search term, hit the Find Next button and Explorer will look for that word on the page. If it's successful, you'll be zapped right to it.

Oh, if you're still using Netscape, you can do the CTRL+F thing too. It works with both browsers.

As if that wasn't cool enough, you can also use a variation of this tip in Windows Explorer. Next time you're looking for a file in explorer, hit CTRL+F and you'll get a Find or Search box (depending on what flavor of Windows you're using).

If you are already in the area of your hard drive where you think the file is (say, My Documents), hit CTRL+F and your search will be set to look in the My Documents folder.

Cool huh?

Tip of the Day

Get Yourself Connected (and Stay Connected)

(This is for non-XP people.)

Those of us with modems know that in order to get connected, we have to click on the dial-up icon to get the “connect to” box, then click on the connect button and wait for computer to dial and connect.

What if there was a way to get rid of the “connect to” box and go straight to dialing the Internet? There is!

To do this, go to Start, Settings, then Control Panel. The Control Panel will open up with many different options. Double-click your dial-up networking folder, right click on the dial-up icon and click Properties.

With your properties box open, click on the Security tab. There is a check box about half way down that says “Connect Automatically.” Put a check in that box and you’re done. That’s all you have to do.

Although while you are here how would you like to make your computer STOP disconnecting just because you walk away from it?

Go to the Dialing tab, find the check box close to the bottom that says “Enable Idle Disconnect” and uncheck it.

That’s it! Your computer will now start dialing the Internet whenever you click on your dial-up icon, mail, Internet explorer or any link. And now you can walk away for more than 2 minutes without it going offline.

Happy surfing!
