Awesome Freebie!

We have another free download for you this week! This one is called Trillian and is a must for those who have multiple Instant Messaging clients (AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, MSN, ect). Instead of running all those clients at the same time and using tons of valuable resources, use Trillian. With one small program you can use virtually every Instant Messaging service at once. Cool huh?

See that and lots more at our homepage:

Q:
Help! I'm looking for a web site for a certain company, but I can't find it. I've put "www.theirname.com" into my web browser and came up empty. I also tried variations of their name plus other domain types (.net, .org, .biz, etc) and nothing. I know they have a web site, but I'm starting to get frustrated. Any ideas?

A:
Wow, looks like you've done almost everything - almost.

Trying different variations of a company's name is a good start, but sometimes their domain name might be that of a parent company or even something that describes their product. For example, a company selling blue widgets may have used "bluewidgets.com" as a domain instead of the company name.

Anyway, when you can't find a company or organization by using their name, try a search engine. Just head to your favorite (I like google ) and search for their name or product(s). Nine times out of ten, you'll find them.

You know, it's one of those "can't see the forest through the trees" things.

Tip of the Day

Printing, Just A Little

Ever need to print just part of a web page or e-mail? You too huh? read on.

First, you need to know that this does not work with every system out there. This tip only works if both your printer driver and the software application you're using supports this little trick. So, take this for what it's worth.

Here's how it usually works:

1. First, select the area you would like to print.

2. Next, from the file menu, select Print...

3. When the printer dialog box comes up, look for an option for "Selection", in a "Print Range" frame. Again, not all printers / software support this.

4. Click Print.

BTW - Please note that I was NOT able to get this little trick to work with Netscape (4.x or 6). This may be due to my printer driver, but I'm guessing that it's more likely that Netscape doesn't support selective printing.

Oh, one more thing. If you can't print a selection, you can always copy and paste the stuff you want into a word processor and print it from there. Sure, it's not nearly as much fun, but it's better than printing out eight pages of junk just to get a small section of text.
