Can You Help Us? As many of you already know, we're in the process of starting our own nation wide ISP. It's been a painfully slow road, but we're starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel! However, we need your help. We're trying to put together some sign up / usage estimates and we need to know how many of you would be interested in switching to us once we go live. Now, I wouldn't expect you to just say "yes" without knowing a little about what we're planning. Our ISP is going to stress high quality, and will be a premium tier 1 service. We're going to be using the best, most reliable networks for consistently fast connections and virtually non-existent busy signals. Our service will also include 5 e-mail addresses, 10 meg of personal web space, 24/7/365 live tech support via a toll free number, a 10% software discount in our store, and more. We're also planning an incredible personal homepage that includes an address book, todo list, personal photo, calendar / schedule, and your favorite web sites. All of which are yours to customize as you see fit. The price on this is going to be $15.97 a month and it is unlimited access. So, what do you think based on the info presented? When we launch would you switch? Yes? No? Maybe so? We'd love to hear from you about this - either yes, why not, or what else you would need to be offered in order to switch. Oh, and note that saying "yes" does NOT obligate you to sign up later. We just want to get a feel for how many folks we're looking at. Send your comments to: Thanks so much for your time, it is truly appreciated. Oh, and this new ISP should launch around the middle of November.
Q: A: (Oh, if you want to check out some of these games, head to http://www.shockwave.com/sw/games/arcade/) How do you know which plug-ins you're going to need? Don't worry about it. When you get to a site that requires one, your plug-in will either run automatically or, if you don't have it, there will be instructions on how to get it. For the most part, newer browsers come with the most common plug-ins. You may need to update to the latest version from time to time, but that's an almost automatic procedure, too. ~ Steve Have
a question for the newsletter? Submit it at the link below: Exploring Fun Ever wish you could control the folder or drive that Windows Explorer opens to? Well, you can and here's how: Right-click the Desktop and select New, Shortcut.
In the command line box, put in one of the commands below: 1. To have this shortcut open Explorer with focus on the My Documents folder, use this in the command line (probably a good idea to copy and paste the line): explorer /e,/n,/root, c:\My Documents It should look like this:
NOTE: XP users will need to insert your user name for a My Documents shortcut. Your command line needs to look like this: explorer.exe /e,/n,/root, C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\My Documents 2. If you would like to just have focus on the C: drive, use the line below: explorer /e,/n,/root, c:\ 3. If you would like the shortcut to open to a "My Computer" view, use this line: (Note - if you right-click My Computer and select Explore from the resulting menu, you'll get the same effect. This is quicker though) explorer /n,/e,/root,,/select,C:\ NOTE: As you can see, you can put in any path you like where you see the "C:\" at the end of the line. You could set up Explorer shortcuts for any frequently used folders and or drives. Once you've decided on the command line, click Next and name the shortcut (something like "Explore My Stuff" or Explore My Docs") and click the Finish button. Cool huh? ~ Steve Have
