Optical Mice

Sorry, we sold out again - much faster than the last three times! I'll keep my eye out for more, but this last batch was a fluke so I'm not real optimistic. We do have ball mice available which look just like the optical mice and still work well. Here's the link if you're interested:

Thanks for your understanding.

I've Finally Got It!

And I LOVE It!

I'm so excited! We have PrintShop ProPublisher Deluxe 11 in stock and the price is incredible! Only $24.97 with FREE US Shipping! It retails for $89.95, so you save over 70%! Here's just a partial list of all it can do!

Letterhead Business Cards Resumes
Envelopes Greeting Cards Newsletters
Calendars Brochures Postcards
Banners Signs Photo Collages
Certificates Banners Booklets
Report Covers Web Pages Mailing Labels
Transfers Photo Albums Photo Novelties
Forms Fax Covers Presentations

Or start your own project from scratch!

With all that, you can see why it's # 1!

It's incredibly easy to use, has a ton of flexibility, and is extremely user friendly. In fact, most projects can be completed with a few mouse clicks using the built in wizard, or you can do them from scratch. I'd say it's one of the easiest "print" type programs I've ever used (and I've used a lot).

Oh, it also includes over 1,200,000 images (175,000 on CD, 1,025,000 online), 11,500+ templates, an integrated address book, tons of ready to use projects, an awesome mail manager (for printing labels, cards, etc), a fantastic photo organizer, a spell checker, video tutorials and more.

I almost forgot. It can also be used with your scanner to import photos directly into the program (yes, you can take pictures off your hard drive too). Oh, and it also includes OCR software that will convert your scanned documents into editable text!

It also has an impressive photo editor built in that's just as easy to use as the rest of the program. This photo editor allows you to remove red-eye (yeah!), enhance brightness / contrast, crop, adjust color, sharpen, clone, fix flaws, do touch ups, and more! And best of all, it's super easy to use. (Just think, no more fighting with hard to use photo editing software!)

After only using this software for an hour or so, I've decided that it's my new publishing software. I like both its power and ease of use. I only wish I had been using it all along!

Again, this is only $24.97 and US shipping is FREE if you live in the US!

It would be easy for me to ramble on, but I think you get the idea. It's a great program and I can't recommend it highly enough. Here's the link for more info:

E-mails are a few of my favorite things...

I just wanted to clarify yesterday's tip on making an e-mail address one of your Favorites in Internet Explorer...

This was merely meant to be a quick way to send someone a message without having to open Outlook Express.

Yes, if you wanted to send them the actual web page, you should simply go to File / Send / Page by E-mail...

But if you're just surfing along and suddenly remember you needed to ask your friend Susie what dessert she was going to bring to the Church potluck on Friday, then you could just click on her name in your Favorites menu and zip a note off to her in a jiffy!

If you missed yesterday's tip on how to do this, check it out in our Archives at http://www.worldstart.com/archives/index.htm. Hope this clears things up.

Tip of the Day

Organizing Favorites with Folders

Here is an addition to the October 29, 2002, newsletter in which we discussed organizing your Favorites in Internet Explorer.

Do you have so many favorites that you often can't locate them because you've forgotten what you named it?

The reason we put things into our Favorites is because we've found a neat or informative site that we want to come back to in the future, so accessibility is key. The easiest way to keep track of lots of Favorites is to categorize them into folders. Here's how:

1. Open Internet Explorer and click on Favorites.

2. Optional: right-click on the each URL and select Rename. Give them a one word name or a better suited name.

3. When you're finished with renaming your list, click Organize and then click New Folder about 5 or 10 or 100 times (the number of folder categories you think you might need).

You can give the folder a category name once it's created in this window; however, if you're not sure of your categories, you can rename them in the next step. Then hit the OK button. This creates a large group of New folders at the bottom of the Favorites list.

4. Now this is the part that will take a bit of time... You must rename the folders if you didn't give them a category name when creating them (right-click and select Rename).

Then just drag and drop the corresponding Favorite link to the appropriate folder.

For example, I started with the ones on my list that I knew were of a certain Main Subject. I was apartment hunting at the time and several URL's had the word apartment or real estate in them. One of my interests is psychology and I had several with that word or subjects that were under that category. I had EMS related medical sites, husky sites, dictionary sites, etc., etc.

I even made a folder for all of the e-mail addresses I made into Favorites according to Steve's tip on November 5, 2002. And then I created a folder named Potpourri, as the subjects inside are just single subjects with nowhere else to go.

5. Now that you've spent hours organizing your Favorites, you should save them! When you are all finished, get out a blank floppy or CD. Right-click on each folder, hit Send To, and click on your floppy or CD drive. Name that disk "My Favorite URL's #1" or whatever you'd like to name it.

Now, when you find a new site and it has a main subject that fits in an already made folder, simply add it to Favorites, and drag it to the folder onto the list OR add it to Favorites. If it doesn't seem to belong in any of your folders, your Potpourri file will gladly adopt it.

Amanda's Cool Site of the Day

The Easter Egg Archive

This site has nothing to do with brightly colored edible eggs and everything to do with those little surprises that are programmed into software that you use on the computer. Their definition of an Easter egg is “any amusing tidbit that creators hid in their creations. They could be in computer software, movies, music, art, books, or even your watch. There are thousands of them, and they can be quite entertaining, if you know where to look.”

This site is an archive of different Easter eggs. I checked out their top 25 and was greatly surprised at some of them. I’d never even think to do some of things to find these critters. Ready to start your Easter egg hunt?
