Computers 101

Q:
I just got a new computer and I'm having a problem with my Favorites. Seems like if I don't visit a site often enough, they disappear from the menu! Why is this?.

A:
Newer versions of Internet Explorer use a Favorites menu that "remembers" the sites you visit the most. So, when you click your Favorites menu, you may only see 5 or 6 of your favorite sites and need to click the little double-"V" looking thing (see picture below) at the bottom of the menu in order to see the rest.

Personally, I kind of like the feature, but I know that some people don't. So, if you want to make your favorites menu show you all your favorites all the time, here's how:

1. Open Internet Explorer and hit the Tools menu, Internet Options.

2. Click the Advanced tab and look for an entry called "Enable Personalized Favorites Menu". Just uncheck it and your Favorites menu should go back to showing you everything.

Tip of the Day

Cool Wheel Mouse Trick
(requires a wheel mouse and Internet Explorer)

Ever wonder what happens when you hold down the shift key on a web page and spin the wheel on your wheel mouse? Explorer goes either back or forward, depending on which direction you spin.

Give it a try. Open up Explorer and follow a few links. Then, hold down your SHIFT key and spin that wheel.

Cool huh?

Dumb Laws

We all know they are out there, waiting, just waiting to get us. Have you ever been the victim of a dumb law? Well now you can find out about dumb laws from all over the world. Check out the dumb laws for my state, Ohio:

1.It is illegal to get a fish drunk.

2.The Ohio driver's education manual states that you must honk the horn whenever you pass another car.

3. It's illegal to catch mice without a hunting license!

4. You cannot eat a doughnut and walk backwards on a city street.

5. Throwing a snake at anyone is illegal.

Why don’t you check out and see what dumb laws will affect you. Remember if you visit Ohio, don’t get your fish drunk and let him throw snakes.
