Microsoft Works - Selling Like Digital Hotcakes!

We had a super response to this one (lots of multiple orders), and we're starting to run low. If you're interested, be sure to get to the site today.

Again, Microsoft Works is basically a set of programs that resembles a scaled down version of MS Office. It has 95% of the features most people use and want, but it's only a fraction of the cost of its big brother.

It includes a full featured word processor, spreadsheet, database, calendar, and more.

When it comes to office suites, I feel I'm a typical user. After looking at this, I'm convinced it does everything I'd ever need an office suite to do. (in fact, I was just using the spreadsheet this morning). Most people will find the same is true for them.

The price on this is an incredible $19.97 - a fraction of the $500.00+ price of MS Office. US shipping is FREE and if you don't like it, just return within 30 days. You can't lose - unless we run out :-) Here's the link:

PS - Don't pass this one by! If you need an office suite on your computer, you'll hate yourself for missing out!

Q:
Last week's tip, "Purge Your Clipboard of Large Files" says that only one item can fit on your clipboard at a time. Actually, if you are running Office 2000, the clipboard can hold up to 12 items at a time. How can you delete multiple items from this clipboard?

A:
Many of our loyal readers wrote to remind me that MS Office 2000 saves multiple items to the clipboard, but then wanted to know how to clear it. Finally, reader Chic J. emailed me with the solution to this mystery:

"The clipboard does have a button to 'Clear All', it also enables you to paste items other than the one last copied. There appears no way to clear specific items from the clipboard. Though sometimes when I exit, I will get a prompt saying that there is a large amount of data on the clipboard and do I want to save it for other applications."

To view the clipboard, go to View then Toolbars and click on Clipboard. This will allow you to see the multiple clipboard entries.

There is a little icon that looks like a clipboard with an X on it in the clipboard toolbar. Just click there and bye-bye multiple clipboard items.

Thank you readers for clearing this up!

Tip of the Day

Explorer and Netscape: Synchronize Your Browser Favorites!

Not only can you use this tip to update and share bookmarks/favorites between Internet Explorer and Netscape, you can also use it to export your NS bookmarks to IE and vice-versa. I suppose you could even use it to share them with your other computers or friends. That's right... three tips for the price of one!

To Export Internet Explorer Favorites

Go to the File menu and click Import/Export. The Wizard will help guide you through the process.

Choose "Export Favorites" and click Next.

Choose the folder you want to export, or click the top folder "Favorites" to send them all. Specify the destination for your favorites file. I suggest that you send it to your "My Documents" folder and call it "favorites.htm" to help distinguish it from your Netscape bookmarks file.

To Export Netscape Bookmarks

Open the Bookmarks menu and choose Manage Bookmarks. In your Bookmarks window, open the Tools menu, and choose Export.

In the "Export bookmark file" box, choose a destination folder for your "bookmarks.html" file to go. I suggest putting it in "My Documents". Click Save.

To Import Netscape Bookmarks in Explorer

Go to the File menu and click Import/Export. Choose "Import Favorites". If the Netscape "bookmark.html" file you just created is not in the box, you will need to browse for it (now you know why I told you to put it in "My Documents").

Next, you can choose where you want it to go. You can put it in a folder, or just dump it in Favorites and sort it all out later. Click Finish.

To Import Explorer Favorites in Netscape:

Open the Bookmarks menu and choose Manage Bookmarks. In your Bookmarks window, open the Tools menu and choose Import.

In the "Import bookmark file" box, locate and select the bookmark file you want to import (remember, we named it "favorites" and put it in "My Documents").

Click Open and it saves all the links in your Bookmark file. You can sort them out from there.

Now you have the power to synchronize your favorites and your bookmarks. Since you have a bookmark file created, you can even send it as an email attachment to friends or save it on a disk to install on another computer. Pretty cool huh!

Amanda's Cool Site of the Day

Castles on the Web

Have you ever wanted to live in a castle? Need information on castles for a report or for your own curiosity then you need to visit Castles on the Web. They have a fabulous castle search engine if you have specific questions. There are also galleries of images, greeting cards you can send online and information.

My favorite part of this site is the Castle Tours section. Where you can take a tour of a castle across the world from the seat of your computer chair. Enjoy!
