What is POP3 Email?

A:
POP3 means "post office protocol, version 3". It is a protocol for getting e-mail off of a web server. If you use Outlook Express or Netscape Messenger you're using POP3.

Some web-based e-mail accounts use this protocol as well. I know that Hotmail and Yahoo allow you to get your mail via POP3 (AOL does not).

Tip of the Day

Ahh, I'm loosing my mind, I mean, my mouse!

Yes, I hear that cry daily... You're typing along, life is good, then you need to click on something and you can't find your mouse. Despite moving that little critter all over your desk, your eye can't seem to locate the pointer. Ugh!

Well, here's a quick solution for you Windows XP users:

Click on Start, select Control Panel, click on "Printers and Other Hardware," and choose Mouse. In the resulting window, click on the Pointer Options tab.

In the Visibility section, I would recommend un-checking "Hide pointer while typing" so your mouse cursor doesn't disappear that often. Then check "Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key." This will activate a bulls eye target to appear around the mouse cursor when you press the Ctrl key.

(Your mouse control panel may look different and have fewer features, so don't be surprised if it is not the same as what you see here.)

And don't worry, it won't interfere with keyboard shortcuts using the Ctrl key. Once you've made your selections, click Apply and then OK and you'll have a mouse that doesn't scurry away quite as much!

EarthCam's MetroCams

I love this site. This is probably the neatest live camera site on the planet. You can view tons of metro cities from livecams set up in them. I was just going to bring you New York City's metrocam but as I browsed I couldn't just bring you just one, I had to give you access to all the spiffy metrocams.

My favorite is the New Orleans camera, but that's my favorite spot to visit. You can also view: Seattle, San Antonio, Washington D.C., Duluth, Laguna Beach, Tampa, Salt Lake City, Detroit, and around the world. There is just not enough room to list them all here.

You get multiple angles to look around with too. This site's a gem, check it one out for your viewing pleasure.
