 Shaky Subject Lines

OK, OK, I know, I know. Last Friday I said the subject line change for this newsletter was going to be permanent and all, but after deleting a number of my own newsletters this week I've decided to rework the subject line once again. Call me flaky (everyone else does), but from now on, the subject line is going to appear the way it does for today's issue (well, until I decide to mess with it again :-). It's just easier for our long time readers to catch it (including me).

The main reason we decided to change in the first place was the newsletter was coming from "Steve" and lots of spammers are using common names like mine to send their junk. Well, I don't care. Gosh darn it, it's my name and I'm going to use it. If you get an e-mail from another "Steve", just delete it. After all, if I didn't send it, it's probably not all that important anyway (just kidding).

On to other matters...

Feelin' The POWER!

WOW - Despite any subject line issues, this still sold like crazy yesterday! Thanks to the hundreds who ordered!

If you missed out, we have an awesome deal on a power inverter. Just plug it into your car's cigarette lighter and it converts the 12V DC current into 110/120V AC. It provides a household style electrical plug you can use to power all kinds of devices.

Think about the possibilities - you could use this to power laptops, printers (great for salesmen printing proposals), fax machines, radios, 100W halogen lamps, portable DVD players, a small TV, battery chargers, and just about any other low wattage device you'd normally plug into a wall outlet.

I've already been using one with my laptop and absolutely love it. I'm keeping the test unit in my truck from now on! There have been a lot of times in the past this would have come in really, really handy.

If you travel with your laptop like I do, this is a must have - you never need to worry about your computer's battery running out of power! Great for those of us who take along a laptop so we can download our digital camera pictures when we're away from civilization! As far as that goes, it would be great if you're the passenger on a long drive and just wanted to get some work done.

Your price on this is incredible - just $29.97 and US shipping is FREE! Power inverters are normally on the expensive side - most go for $50-$70, so this is an outstanding buy. If you want one, better get to the site ASAP:

PS - Supplies are running low and once these are gone I can't get more at this price (or anywhere close to it). Don't miss out on this incredible deal - get to the site now!

Q:
Sometimes I go to web pages that have information I need, but the animations and stupid music are so annoying. I shut my speakers off and try to ignore the animations, but I was wondering if there was a better way to deal with pages like this. Any thoughts?

A:
I think I was on that page yesterday :-)

If the music doesn't knock you off your chair, the overload of animations will give you a migraine!

Fortunately, there's an easy solution in most cases. Wait till the page loads, then hit the Stop button on your browser.

All the insanity on the page should cease, making reading it much more bearable.

~ Steve

Tip of the Day

Label Netscape Mail with Color

Yesterday I told you how to make some email stand out from others in the Outlook Express inbox. Today I'll show all the Netscape Mail users how to do this.

Go to Edit / Preferences then under "Mail & Newsgroups" select "Labels". There are five colors listed with default labels: Important, Work, Personal, etc. You can change these by typing in the box.

After you finish, click OK. Now, let's put these labels to work by using Message Filters...

Go to Tools / Message Filters and select the email address you want to apply the filter to and click "New". Give the filter a name.

Select the radio button marked "Match any of the following". Where it says "Subject", click the arrow to reveal the drop down menu options and choose "Sender" (you can, of worse, choose another option). If you want the filter applied to a whole domain (like "worldstart.com"), then leave the next button as contains. If you are filtering addresses, you can change it to "is". Enter the email address or domain in the box. To add additional names, just click "More".

Change the action to "Label the Message", then select the label from the next box. Click OK when done. Follow this procedure some more to create other contact label lists.

Now, when you check your Inbox, messages from various senders will be in different colors, making it easier to notice them. You can even create one just for "worldstart.com" making it easier to find our newsletters no matter what the displayed name is!) Another neat thing is that you can click the "Label" column of your Inbox to sort by color.

I hope you find this one as useful as I did.

~ David

Amanda's Cool Site of the Day

Puzz.com

No, "puzz" is not some Yiddish insult, it's short for puzzle. This site is both for puzzle lovers and for test takers. You can find tons of both here along with other goodies that will keep you quite busy.

You'll find IQ tests, trivia, puzzles and a lot of other stuff. Scroll down the page to visit all their links. A lot of them are owned by puzz.com, but quite a few are independent sites that have their own mysteries to explore. So, if you love puzzles this site is for you.
