Announcements

We send this hoping that everyone got home safely yesterday and woke up with their power on :-) I know we were wondering what the heck was going on yesterday afternoon!

More Argus Web Cams!

We had these before and they sold like crazy. Our supplier came up with another truckload so we decided to give anyone who missed out a shot at 'em!

The first time these came in we had to "test" them - we never thought they would be this fun! In fact, be sure to stop by the info page and check out the little video of some of our staff waving "Hello". It's really short (and very compressed), but it shows you how good (and fun) this little camera is.

With this cool little PC cam, not only can you create regular videos using your computer, but you can also do video e-mail (really fun and our favorite use for this), video conferencing, do video monitoring, and even use it with instant messengers! (Of course, you can use it with a web site too if you like.) In addition to video, it can also take still pictures in case you need a fast digital image of something or someone. Hundreds of uses!

This color camera features a built in microphone, 30 frames per second video, adjustable focus, and connects to your computer with a USB cable (included). Since it's USB, setup is incredibly easy and will only take you a few minutes. We set it up on several computers here at the office and ran into zero problems. I wish everything was this easy to install!

After installation, just run the software, point the camera at your subject, and press record! It's that simple!

Oh, and wait till you see the easy to use software that's included with the camera! The main program is, naturally, for video. It allows you to capture, create, edit, add text, add transitions, store / catalog your videos, and more. You can even stitch several together if you like. In addition, there is video capture software, photo editing software (for still photos), and more. The software alone is worth the price of the camera!

If you've ever looked at these types of cameras, you know they can get pricey - $50 to $100 is the average range. We were able to get a really good deal on these and can sell them to you for just $29.97ea with FREE US shipping! If you've ever wanted a good web cam, but didn't want to pay the high price, this is just what you've been looking for! Check it out:

PS - Don't miss out, we had a lot of people tell us they really liked their cameras after our first run!

Computers 101

Q:
I lose my dial up connection each time I send an email using Outlook Express. How do I fix this?

A:
OE can be set to hang up after it sends or recieves email. This is a great feature if you have limited monthly hours online, but can be really annoying if you decide to check your mail while your surfin' the web. Fortunately this feature can be turned on or off.

Go to Tools / Options, then click the "Connections" tab.

If you want Outlook Express to hang up after sending or checking mail, check the box. If you DON'T want it to hang up after, just uncheck the box.

NOTE: If you are someone who downloads their email then reads it offline (hang up after receiving), keep in mind that this can cause you to get a red X where a graphic should be. We get email from readers all the time who complain that the pictures are missing from the newsletter. Since our pictures load from the server, you must be online when reading or printing to get the pictures.

Tip of the Day

Quicker Exploring

Here's the deal. You open up My Computer and start browsing for a particular file or folder. About five minutes into it, you realize you would have been better off doing this with Windows Explorer. What to do? Is it time to start over? Is all hope lost? Am I being too dramatic?

Anyhow, when faced with the situation above, most of us would close My Computer, open Explorer, and then hunt around for the file again.

Instead, right-click the file or folder you're working with in My Computer and select Explore. Windows Explorer opens up with focus on that area.

Amanda's Cool Site of the Day

Arresting Images

I couldn’t help but want to bring you this site. What is it?

Well, you can see candid photos of some of your favorite celebrities. Check out their mug shots, and see what they really look like without all that help from cameras, lighting, and makeup. You can also see mug shots of athletes, musicians, serial killers, historical figures and many more.

Most have captions that tell you what the person was incarcerated for. You’d be surprised by some of them—I know I was. You can see the mug shots of "favorite" gangsters too.

Book 'em Dan-O!
