Announcements

Ohh, do we have an AWESOME deal this Issue!!

I Love This Program!

We have Microsoft Picture It Publishing (Gold edition) on sale for only $24.97 - with FREE US SHIPPING! This retails for $59.95, so you save nearly 60%!!

(Special Note - We ran this special a few weeks back and ran out within hours. For days after, we received phone calls and 100+ e-mails asking when we were getting more. So, if you want in on this, get to the site ASAP!!)

Now, you know I've looked at a lot of different desktop publishing packages over the years, and this 6 CD set is one of the best by far. It's super-easy to use and you can create about anything your heart desires. In case you can't tell, YES, I'm really excited about this one!

You can create greeting cards, e-mail cards, calendars, newsletters, web pages, invitations, announcements, labels, animated greetings, business cards, flyers, signs, stationary, T-shirts, stickers, web photo albums, party sets, recipe cards, awards, certificates, banners, and tons more. (whew) The thing includes over 12,000 different templates!

You can use your own photos or choose from over 150,000 different clipart images that are included with the package! You don't need to worry about finding that perfect image anymore!

This also includes powerful photo editing tools. Remove red-eye, cut people out of photos and put them somewhere else (very cool feature), adjust brightness / contrast, add frames to your photos, turn color to B&W, and choose from 150 different special effects that turn your photos into fine art prints! Oh, you can even print multiple photos on a single page (we've had a lot of requests for that).

Putting a project together couldn't be easier. Just choose the type of project you want, then follow the prompts. You're guided through step by step. Of course, you can also go into "do it yourself mode" and create projects from scratch if you prefer.

One of the coolest features this program has is helpful little movies that show you how to do basic operations. Regular help files are good, but learning by watching is best!

I could go on and on about this one, but since the web site has so much info, I'm just going to encourage you to go check it out. Here's the link:

Don't miss out - this is a very hot seller! Remember, we have our 30 day satisfaction guarantee - if you don't agree it's as good as I say it is, you can return it (even opened) for a prompt and courteous refund! You have nothing to lose!

MS Office 101

Have you ever been working in MS Excel and found yourself wishing that the cell selection would go in some other direction after you hit the Enter key? Let's face it, sometimes the data needs to be entered in rows, not columns.

Never fear! A couple of clicks and bingo, you've changed the direction the Enter key moves the cell selection. Wanna know how?

To begin go to the Tools menu and choose Options.

Next, select the Edit tab.

In the middle of the window you should see the Move selection after Enter option. Then just below that there is a drop down box for direction.

Simply change the direction listed to right, left, up or down then click OK.

That's it. You're all set. Back to entering data, data, and more data.

Office Tip of the Day

Custom Tabs In MS Word - The Easy Way

MS Word comes with default tabs set at every 1/2 inch aligned to the left. Often this is exactly what you need, but there are the times when you need something different.

One way to add custom tab stops is to go through the Format menu, Tabs window and enter the needed information there.

Another way, and the one that I find to be faster, is to use the tab customization features while the ruler is viewed with the document.

To begin you will need to display the ruler with your document (View menu, select Ruler).

Once the ruler is dispalyed, notice the dark gray areas show the margins and the white space is the document space for text.

Below the white space of the ruler you should see small dark gray markers showing where current tabs are set. Aren't they cute?

To the left of the top ruler and above the side ruler you will see a little box with a black "L" shaped symbol.

This box, when clicked, will rotate between the four types of tabs:

left

center

right

decimal

To insert a tab using the rulers, first click the tab selection box until you see the species of tab you need to set.

Once the tab you need is displayed, click on the ruler where you want to set the tab. The symbol for the tab you've selected should appear on the ruler.

I should note that default tabs to the left of the one you just set will disappear. Should you set any other custom tabs, default tabs to the left will be gone but all other custom tabs will stay.

Now to address the inevitable "OOPS" that will occur.

At some point you will insert a tab in the wrong place. Can it be moved?

Absolutely! To move a tab, simply click in the ruler on the tab symbol you inserted. Then just drag the tab to the left or right as needed.

Can the tab be removed?

Of course. Simply click on the tab symbol in the ruler then drag the symbol into the document. When you release the mouse button this will remove the tab from the ruler (and no, it won't be sitting there in your document). As an added bonus, it will also reinsert the default tabs that were removed when the custom tab was inserted.

And here's one final note about tabs. When you set a tab stop it applies to the paragraph you are currently working on and all subsequent paragraphs. To set custom tab stops for text already entered you will need to highlight the text you want to be tabbed. Should you wish to change the whole document hit CTRL-A (this selects the entire document) then make the changes you need.

There you go - tabs made easy.
