At Home in the Heartland Online

Welcome to At Home in the Heartland Online, where you can discover what it was like to live in Illinois from the 1700’s to the present day.

When you arrive at the site, I would suggest ignoring the main menu for the moment and checking out the About the Exhibit link. There you will find out exactly what the site is about and what you can expect to learn during your visit.

Then I’d head back to the main page and select the time period that most interests you. Your options are 1700-1800, 1800-1850, 1850-1890, 1890-1920, 1920-1950 and 1950 to the present day. Lots of different time periods to explore!

My favorite part of the exhibits for each time period is the voices.  It provides you with a unique perspective which adds layers of complexity to your experience.

Are you ready to start a journey through time and experience Illinois in a way you may never have thought possible? Then head over and check out Home in the Heartland Online today!
