Back Up Your Address Book

Q:
Is there a way to back up my Address Book?

A:
It would ruin my day if I lost all the contacts in my address book. That’s why I save it to disk, just in case, and I’m going to show you how too.

With Outlook Express type Ctrl+Shift+B to bring up your Address Book. Under “File” choose “Export” then “Address book (WAB)”

Give it a location to export to. I suggest sending it to your Desktop or “My Documents” so it’s easy to find. Give the file a name—here you could go with the date, for instance “2005-04-29″.

With Thunderbird type Ctrl+2 to bring up the Address Book. Go to Tools/Export and select where you want the file to go. I suggest sending it to your Desktop or “My Documents” so it’s easy to find. Give the file a name—here, for example, you could do the date “2005-04-29″.

Now that you have your Address Book saved on your hard drive you can transfer it to floppy or CD. Simply click the file, then drag and drop it into your floppy drive or in XP to your CD-R/RW drive.
