Welcome to the Bridge, a Web site devoted to giving teachers the best Ocean Science resources that are out there on the Internet. You will find all the featured sections in the middle of the page and the navigation in the left frame under Site Navigation.
Ocean Science Topics – Here you will find all sorts of ocean science topics nested in this menu tree. It really lets you narrow down what you are looking for. Once you’ve narrowed it down, your selection will show in the middle frame of the page. The topics here are: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Marine Biology, Atmosphere, Habitats and Human Activities.
Lesson Plans – Here you can find helpful lesson plans for students of all ages, from elementary school to middle and secondary school.
Research & Data Connections – Here you will find the Current Data Tip, Data Tip Archives, Ocean Observing, Online Data, Virtual Explorations and Research Partners. For me, the real highlight here was the Virtual Explorations section. There were so many fun sites to discover and explore!
Professional Development – If you’re a teacher, this section will help you further your studies of Ocean Science. There’s an online course, summer opportunities, grants and awards and organizations.
Guiding Students – This section is all about guiding students to colleges, universities, science fairs and careers. Help them put their love of Ocean Science to work for them in a rewarding career or help them study it more by getting into the right colleges.
Resource Center – Here you will find all sorts of resources, from aquariums to online publications to marine literature and more!
This site is very teacher oriented, but there is plenty here that non-teachers can enjoy as well. There are a lot of explorations you could share with your kids and even projects you could do with them over the summer. Enjoy!
