I get a lot of questions about where to find the games on Windows 8.1 Especially from those who have upgraded from XP and miss the good old Games folder. One of my favorite questions so far came from Mike who misses Solitaire and FreeCell Hearts.
He says, “My wife of 44 years is not happy with me. PLEASE HELP! Lord knows I need it.”
In the interest of Mike’s domestic harmony, let’s find some games for Mrs. Mike to play.
You start by selecting the Store icon. It looks like this in the Metro/Modern views.
Or you can type “Store” in the Search Charm and click on the result.
The store app will open.
Type the name of the game you wish to find in the search box in the upper right-hand corner.
Click on the results. Since FreeCell is a free game, just choose Click on Install to immediately install it on your computer.
Type Solitaire and you’ll find hundreds of apps including the Microsoft Solitaire Collection. You can sort those apps by category and price.
If you choose Free, only free games will be displayed.
Just click or tap on the game you want. Then choose install. Your wife would probably really enjoy the Microsoft Solitaire Collection.
To browse the game offerings, choose Categories at the top of the store page and then Games.
You’ll have thousands of results to choose from. I suggest choosing Top Free to browse through the 1,000 top free games that you can download with one click.
Hope this helps!
