Can a tablet actually replace paper and pen?  The makers of the reMarkable tablet think so. They say their new device is so much like paper and pen that it will convert diehard hard copy fans.

The developers say that paper is the “ultimate tool for thinking,” but that it can be bulky.  They claim that their tablet is the perfect solution for reading, drawing, and writing.

The device promises to look and feel exactly like paper. Here’s a shot of handwriting on the tablet.

Users can also make notes on documents with the electronic pen.

The device claims to offer the feel of sketching on paper combined with electronic tools like erasing, zooming in, and changing your brush.

Now, this 10 -inch tablet doesn’t run any apps. So there’s no connecting to the Internet to get distracted by messages, games, or Facebook.  You will be able to transfer your documents to reMarkable’s cloud server and access them from your PC, Mac, or mobile device.

The notes are synced in real-time across your devices and instantly available.

The device offers several days worth of battery time and can be read even in bright sunlight.

The device doesn’t come cheap. It will run over $500. The makers are offering a special launch offer for the tablet, electronic marker, and a cover for $379 for a limited time. You can check it out by clicking here.

Are you a paper or tablet person? Would you give a device like this a try? Let us know what you think in the comments.

Until the price comes WAY down, paper and pencil still wins – doesn’t run out of power either!
