E-mail Carets

We’ve all ran into this problem. What problem, you ask? Well, this is how it goes. You receive a forwarded e-mail (one that was probably forwarded many times before it ever made its way to you) and it never fails; there’s always tons of those little carets (>>>) infesting the e-mail. Yuck!

Well, there’s no way to manually eliminate all of those carets (unless you backspace them all)… Continue reading

Outlook Express Spelling

Friday, July 21st, 2006

Q:
I see that in a lot of your e-mail tips, you mention a Spelling tab in Outlook Express. I don’t have the spelling tab on mine and the spelling icon is sometimes grayed out when I am typing an e-mail. Why is this and how can I get the spellchecker to work?

A:
I’m very glad you asked this question, because I know for a fact that… Continue reading

Friday, July 14th, 2006

Q:
I use Yahoo! for my e-mail and I often get inappropriate e-mails and I’m afraid some of them may carry viruses. I send them to Yahoo’s abuse center, but they never do anything about it. How can I trace the e-mail back to the original sender so I can try to stop them?

A:
That is such a common question and I get several e-mails about this… Continue reading

Sent E-mails

If you use Outlook Express for all of your e-mail interactions, do you prefer to have it save a copy of the e-mails you send out every day? Sometimes it’s nice to have a saved copy in case you need to go back and reference a certain e-mail or maybe even have to send it again. So, if you’re having trouble getting OE to save your sent e-mails… Continue reading

I use Outlook Express and even though my Outbox appears empty, it keeps trying to send a message. What’s going on?

A:

E-mail Done Your Way

Do you use Yahoo!, Hotmail or AOL as your main e-mail program? If so, let me ask you this: have you ever switched over from Outlook Express to one of these because you thought it would be a better e-mail experience? If you answered yes, do you miss Outlook Express and all that it had to offer? Okay, enough questions. If you said yes again, keep… Continue reading

The download process just… Continue reading

Q:
How do you create a business card in Outlook Express?

Gmail in Outlook Express

Are you one of the many who has recently given up Outlook Express and signed up for a Gmail account? Since you’ve done that, have you started to miss the way you handled e-mail in Outlook Express? Some of you may have gone to Gmail because of the online e-mail storage that comes with it, but would you rather use Outlook Express and go back to… Continue reading

Outlook Express Passwords

Friday, June 9th, 2006

Outlook Express Passwords

Often times, Outlook Express does not retain your password and this can be a very big problem (or just a plain annoyance) for some users. You may have that “Remember password” box checked (under Tools, Accounts), but it doesn’t seem to make a bit of difference. You still have to enter your password each time you go in to use Outlook Express and that’s a major pain… Continue reading

IncrediMail

IncrediMail

Since we have recently introduced Gmail to you, I thought it would be nice to bring up IncrediMail. IncrediMail is just another e-mail provider that is available today. It is mostly known for its multimedia capabilities, which can take your e-mails to the next level. The company’s Web site says that they are “focused on enhancing traditional e-mail communication” and they are doing this by making it easier to… Continue reading

BCC Those Groups

BCC Those Groups

Ever since we ran the tips on e-mail groups, people have been asking if you can still use the BCC feature with those groups. Well, you certainly can. Even though you have a group created, the BCC option doesn’t change. When you make a group, some e-mail programs embed all of the addresses you included into the group name and that is all that shows up in… Continue reading

Thunderbird Signature

Friday, May 26th, 2006

Q:
How do you create a signature in Thunderbird?

A:
In case you’re wondering what a signature even is, it’s just a message you can include at the bottom of all your e-mails that you send out. Gmail Signature

Would you like to add a signature to all of the e-mails you send out in your Gmail account? It’s easy, here’s how!

First of all, a signature is a little ending you can put in each e-mail you send out. It can be a personal signature with a quote or poem or it can be a business type signature that has all of your contact information.

Gmail Groups

Gmail Archive

Friday, May 19th, 2006

Q:
What is the archive button for in Gmail?

A:
One of the great features of Gmail is that it has its own little archiving area. This might be a little confusing to Gmail beginners though, so let’s walk through this together. The archive feature does not mean that Gmail keeps all your e-mails forever and ever and never gets rid of them. If you have that thought… Continue reading

Group It

Group It

If you usually send the same e-mails to the same group of people, you can make it easier by creating a group for them. With group e-mailing, you don’t have to search again and again for each person you want to send an e-mail to. Maybe you’re in a club and you want to e-mail every club member. Put them all in a group and save yourself some… Continue reading

Missing E-mail

I know we’ve covered this topic before, but every single day, it seems as if I get at least 20 e-mails from people saying they are not receiving WorldStart’s newsletters (or even other e-mails they were expecting), so I figured it was worth repeating. It’s a big confusion and a big headache for those who don’t get the e-mails that they are looking forward to each day. So… Continue reading

E-mail Backup

Friday, May 12th, 2006

Q:
What’s an easy way to back up my e-mails in Outlook Express?

A:
It would be nice if there was a one click backup option embedded in Outlook Express, but unfortunately, there is not. There are a few ways to back up your e-mails, some being harder than others. You may have tried to use the export feature or maybe you just tried dragging all your e-mails… Continue reading
