Centers For Disease Control and Prevention [1]

With all the new diseases that are springing up, this is a great site to have. You can find out the breaking information here. You can even find tips for staying safe from germs in the workplace.

There is a huge section on stopping germs, what you can do to protect yourself and your family from them. It discusses the importance of covering your mouth when you cough, hand washing and sanitizing (hand sanitizer like you can get in a bottle or a wipe), and explains how germs spread. It also has some posters you can show your kids about germs.

An interesting article on this site is also one of main topics. Check out “Safe on the Road” for tips on keeping your child safe while you are driving. From having the correct car seat for your child’s weight, height, and age to learning about how airbags effect your children. This section is full of useful information.

More importantly you should check out the “Emerging Infectious Disease” articles. This will keep you up to date on what is out there waiting to make you sick right this minute. You’ll find updates on SARS here, as well as what other things are in news like the re-emergence of Leptospirosis in California (Leptospirosis is a rare typhoid like disease that they found a few cases of in adult males in California from drinking infected water.) This is the section to keep you ahead of the germs are floating around.

A very helpful site that will benefit your health.
