Change Windows 8 Startup Sound

Hi guys I have Windows 8 & I want to change my Windows startup sound. I want to put my own voice. I tried but it not possible for me. Thanks.

Hello Ali.

This requires an edit to the Windows 8 registry settings. If you don’t feel particularly confident in your computer skills, I wouldn’t suggest doing it. But if you feel comfortable, here’s what to do. Just make sure that you are very careful. Press the windows key + r, and type regedit in the box that comes up.

Navigate to the following folder: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\EventLabels. You should see lots of folders, but when you scroll down, you will see one for WindowsLogon. Click on it, and in the panel on the right, double click on ExcludeFromCPL, and change the value to 0.

You can do the same thing in the Registry Editor for the WindowsLogoff, WindowsUnlock, and SystemExit  sounds, just change the ExcludeFromCPL value to 0, if you would like to change those sounds.

Close out of the Registry Editor. Now, open your Control Panel, click on Hardware and Sound, look under the Sound link (has a speaker by it) and click on Change System Sounds, and then make sure you are in the Sounds tab at the top of the window. Scroll down and you should have the option to change Windows Logon sound.

Assuming you have the voice file saved on your computer, click on Browse.. and navigate to wherever you have the file you would like to use saved. That should allow you to use whatever sound you would like as your Windows Logon sound.
