I have Windows XP Home sp 2 on my laptop but I use Firefox 12.0 as my browser. When I run a search in the address bar I always get Yahoo results. How do I change it to get Google results?
Hi, Arv! It’s really easy to switch your search engine. Here’s how:
To switch to Google from any other search engine simply click on the drop-down arrow next to the Yahoo! icon and choose Google. The picture below illustrates this process.

If Google is not on your list, simply click on Manage Search Engines… and you can add whichever you want.
Happy searching!

Yeah but, you’re setting the search box, NOT the address bar. When you type in a word, say “monkey wrench” in the ADDRESS bar, you get Yahoo regardless of what your search box default is. In order to change the ADDRESS bar to google, you have to change preferences and once you do that all you get is a blank google search screen where you have to re-enter the search term. Seems Firefox just wants you to use yahoo in order to get a screen with your search-word results.
