When you type in a word, say "monkey wrench" in the ADDRESS bar, you get Yahoo regardless of what your search box default is. In order to change the ADDRESS bar to google, you have to change preferences and once you do that all you get is a blank google search screen where you have to re-enter the search term. Seems Firefox just wants you to use yahoo in order to get a screen with your search-word results.

Yeah but, you’re setting the search box, NOT the address bar.
