Checking your Add/Remove programs can help you detect applications that may have snuck through your antivrus and firewall. Malicious programs and “foistware” (programs bundled with other software) can be installed without you knowing it. If you see a program you don’t need or don’t remember installing in the Add/Remove then click “Remove” to get rid of it.
