Checking Website Modification Updates

Posted By Kevin On April 21, 2011 @ 2:00 PM In Using The Internet | 1 Comment

One of our readers sent us the following tidbit.

When visiting a website, just type (or copy and paste) the following into a browser’s address bar, to learn when that site was updated last.

javascript:alert(document.lastModified)

Here’s an Internet Explorer 9 address bar showing the WorldStart home page.

Here’s the address bar showing the most recent modification (at least it was at that moment).

It should be noted however, that this worked just fine in Google Chrome and Firefox, but in IE9, the entire text wouldn’t paste into the address bar and the text, javascript: needed to be typed in by hand.

Once again, thanks for the tip, Nancy.
