Cooliris 1.11

Friday, August 21st, 2009 by | Filed Under: Using The Internet

Are you looking to looking to spice up and add some excitement to your Internet browsing? One place that doesn’t have to be so cut and dry is viewing pictures and video. Instead of this boring old image search:

How does this look? Well trust me, it is so much more fun and enjoyable! Today, I present to you, Cooliris, a neat new way to view multimedia on the Web.

1.To use Cooliris, you will need to have Mozilla Firefox. Follow this link, and select Add to Firefox.
2.When Cooliris is finished installing, click Restart Firefox.
3.After Firefox has restarted, you will see the following screen. Click the Cooliris icon in the upper right corner of the Firefox toolbar.

4.The Cooliris interface will open up, and you can see the three panes, Menu ,Search, and at the bottom the Scroll area.

5.I’ve already showed you what an image search looks like, so let‘s watch a video. Go up to the search box, select YouTube, and type in a video name. I’ll use my favorite video, the skateboarding dog.

6.The results will appear with thumbnails. Select your video, and the player will open with related video at the bottom. Neat, right?

7.Cooliris is compatible with many other websites including Facebook and Myspace. In Facebook, when you hover over a thumbnail and icon will appear.

8.If you click on the icon, the images will load in a slideshow.

9.For a complete list of the websites Cooliris is compatible with click here.

10.In the Cooliris interface, under the Discover tab, you can browse many categories, ranging from shopping to sports.

11.You can also read the newspaper in a way never before!

12.Finally, you use the Cooliris 3D wall to browse images found on your own computer. It automatically opens your picture folder, or you can open any folder you like.

Enjoy this great new way to search the web!
