Copying Your Error Messages
What do you do when you receive a cryptic error message? Most computer users search for the error on the Web with their favorite search engine. However, that means you have to copy down the entire error message and then go off and search for it. Well, not anymore! Today, I’m going to show you a little trick that makes this procedure so much easier. Let’s check it out, shall we?!
The next time you get a strange error message and you don’t know what it means, just follow these steps:
1.) As soon as the error pops up, press Ctrl + C.
2.) Now, open WordPad by going to Start, All Programs, Accessories, WordPad.
3.) Right click and select Paste.
4.) Presto! The error message is displayed and will look something like this:
5.) Now, you can copy the error message and paste it into your search engine to try and find a solution to the pesky menace!
Here’s another method you can try as well!
1.) Another way to copy an error message is to take a screenshot of it. We’ve gone over this before, but let’s do a quick review!
2.) When an error message is displayed, hit the PrtScn button on your keyboard.
3.) Next, open the Paint program by going to Start, All Programs, Accessories, Paint.
4.) Once you’re there, right click and select Paste. Your screenshot will then appear.
5.) Now, it’s a good idea to use the tools in Paint so that you can focus only on the image of the error message box. You can do that by using the Select or Crop tools and by removing the background.
6.) When you’re finished, you can upload your new image to a message board (like WorldStart’s) where other users will be more than happy to fill you in on the story of the error you’re receiving.
