Annie from Texas asks:
Is there a way to send a shortcut to the desktop for the On-screen keyboard?
Thanks for the question Annie and, yes there is. For those not familiar with the Windows onscreen keyboard it’s, as the name states, a keyboard that appears on the computer screen. Typing is done by tapping onscreen characters with the mouse.
To create the shortcut, right click on an empty spot on the desktop. From the menu, select New and Shortcut.

In the Create Shortcut dialog box, type (or copy and paste) the following:
C:\Windows\System32\osk.exe

After you click Next, you’ll be asked to name your shortcut. I cleverly named mine OnScreen Keyboard. When I’m at work, I just let my imagination run wild.

And there you have it. For even easier access, you can move the shortcut to your Taskbar.

It is so much easier to just right click On-Screen keyboard and create a shortcut in desktop and drag and drop into Quick Launch bar.
Greatest tip yet.. Y’all are just great…..
While, of course, this will work, it is a bit convoluted. One could browse in the Start Menu (location depends upon the O/S) and R click and Send To Desktop (create shortcut). With W7 more options are available from what XP offers. First, one can still browse Start>All programs>Accessories>Ease of access and then choose various options such as “Pin to Start Menu”, “Pin to Taskbar” or again Send To Desktop. Alternatively, type osk into the search field on the Start Menu and R click the .exe item (#1) and make the same selections. This option is the quickest of all. Good idea to always have a quick method of getting to things such as the keyboard in case of a physical keyboard issue.
This is fantastic and I just wanted to thank you for posting this. I merely wish more people thought like this.
