Daily Mug Shot
This site is inspired by a guy who a took a photo of himself every day for years and then made a video of them – the site creator thought it was cool and wondered what it would take to make it available to the public. This site was born, and now you can do it too!
One of my best friends is pregnant with twins, and we’re all super excited for her and can’t wait to meet the twins. So when I ran across this site, I thought how awesome it would be to take a picture of your children every day. Then you could really track how they have changed over time.
It’s also interesting to imagine how much you would change over the course of a week, a month, a year, etc. I know my style changes radically over the course of a week, let alone a year! So I think it would be cool to be able to track that.
To get started, you’ll need to create an account. Do so by clicking the Create an Account button, fill out the form, and click the Sign Up button. You’ll be automatically signed in, once your account is created, and you can start right away. You have two options for taking your mug shot, if you have a web cam, you can use that or, if you have a digital camera, you can take your photo and upload it (this option also works if you have a traditional camera and want to develop and then scan the pictures into your computer). If you want to learn more about each option, you can read the Tell Me About Each section beneath them.
If you choose to do it via web cam, you’ll be guided through the steps to setup your web cam with the site. Then you’ll get tips on getting a good mug shot, and you’ll be taken to the page to snap the mug shot. Click shoot to do so. I don’t have a web cam, so that’s as far as I could get in the steps, but I’m betting it’s the same as the upload option where you’ll set landmarks to keep your pictures consistent.
If you choose to do it via your digital camera, you’ll get tips on how to get a good mug shot, and then click the I’m Ready button to move onto the upload page. Click Upload, choose the photo for today’s mug shot, and click Save, then set the landmarks (probably on your eyes) and when you’re happy with it, click Save.
To see your mug shots, go to My Mugshow on the left side menu, and you’ll be whisked off to the photos you’ve added. If you want to remove a photo from your set, just uncheck the box beneath the image. You can also change the landmarks from this page, just be sure to click save again to keep your changes.
After you’ve uploaded your first image, you’ll be taken to the Get Reminders page. It’s an optional download that gives you a reminder application. You can also get email reminders; just follow the instructions on the page.
Another great feature of the site is that you can share your mug shots over social media like Facebook, and Twitter. Just click Publish on the left side menu to see what your options are.
