Earth as Art [1]

At this site you can view photos of the Earth taken by the Landsat-7 satellite – and most recently, the Terra Satellite’s Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER).

You can view the photos by continent. Choose the place you want to start and you’ll be hooked. I especially loved the Von Karman Vortices from North America. You should also check out Antarctica as it is a lovely photo as well.

I found that once I started looking I had to see them all – but don’t worry it doesn’t take that long, and I’m sure you’ll discover you have favorites. Like Dragon River in Siberia. If you really enjoy the images you can download their free screensaver. Make sure you follow the download instructions carefully. It is a really nice screensaver.

If you don’t want to hop continents you can also view the photos by using the Image Index which is in alphabetical order and is extremely easy to navigate. You just scroll down. This is a very lovely site with images of our Earth.
