Have you ever wanted to calculate the consequences of an impact on earth? Well neither did I till I found this site. It’s so easy!
You just put in the information and hit calculate. If you don’t know what kind of information to put in, just make up some realistic numbers. It should still work. (Or you can check out the link “Impact Examples”) You can even decide what is making impact. You can choose from Ice, Porous Rock, Dense Rock, and Iron.
Then hit calculate and there you go! If you want the technical side of things then head towards the bottom of the page. There you will find a link that says “Tell me More” that explains how the program was made and what all it factors into. You will need Acrobat Reader because it is a pdf file. “The processes included are: atmospheric entry, impact crater formation, fireball expansion and thermal radiation, ejecta deposition, seismic shaking, and the propogation of the atmospheric blast wave.”
This site will really make an impression!
