The Library of Congress has put together a really interesting digital collection about the Election of 1800 with amazing primary source documents, images, and so much more!
The site covers a lot of history from the debate over how to elect a president, the election itself, the create of the nation’s capital, the first map to display the flag, and so much more.
When you arrive at the site, all you have to do is scroll down to navigate, because it is setup so that each section explains a part of the history. In each section, you’ll find text explaining what is going on and some sort of image on the right side. Some sections have more than one image and you can use the arrows to navigate through them. Underneath the images, you’ll often find links to full versions of the image or document being highlighted.
This is a really interesting look back at the history of the election process! Go check it out today!
