Enhance Your Digg

Awhile back, you ran an article on Digg.com and since then, I have been addicted to it. It’s a great resource, but do you know of any other programs that maybe go along with it? You know, anything that will maybe enhance the Web site even more. I was just curious and any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

It’s a good thing you’re curious, because I’ve got just what you’re looking for. Before I go any further, I want to make sure everyone knows what Digg.com is. Like the question stated, we have done an article on this Web site before and just in case you’ve never read it before, check it out here [1] it is again, in case you missed it.

Okay, once you’re all caught up with that, you can continue reading! So, if you’re a Digg addict, the following five programs I’m going to tell you about are going to bring your experience to a whole new level. If you like to be up to date with all of the recent stories of the world or if you like to submit your own, check these applications out. Oh, I almost forgot. Some of these programs will work for you Mac users as well! Alright, here we go!

1.) DiggDong – This one is only available for Mac users and it is best for all of you who like to submit your own stories to Digg. It is a Dashboard application that allows you to add your story URLs to the Dashboard interface. It also lets you set the refresh rate to one, five or even 10 minutes, so you will always be notified when you receive a new “digg.” You can check DiggDong out here. It’s also recommended that you have the Growl program along with this one, which you can get here.

2.) DiggUpdate – This is for Windows and Mac users and it is also referred to as “The Slim Digg.” It is used to notify you of any recent top stories on the main page of Digg. It goes right on your desktop and you can also customize it the way you want it to be, including how many stories you want it to display, how the program looks, etc. This one also goes along with the Growl application. Check DiggUpdate out right here.

3.) WordPress – This application is here to help you with submitting your own stories to Digg. It will really help you if you’re not sure what to write about as well. It works pretty much like a blog where you can keep track of all your stories. It’s very simple to use and install. Give it a try for yourself by clicking on this link.

4.) Diggometer – This one also helps with keeping track of your own stories. It can be inserted into the blog that you set up with WordPress (above) and it will track the progress of all your stories and put them right on your Web page. You will also be able to see how many people visited your story links and how many Digg users are currently viewing it at any given time. It’s a really good program for anyone who likes to blog. Check it out here.

5.) Digg Search Firefox Plug-in – Okay, here’s one for all you Firefox users. This plug-in adds Digg.com to your search engine options in Firefox. When you go to download this, look in the list and it is the third one listed out of the five. Click here to get it for yourself.

Now, just so you know, all of these applications have gotten rave reviews for the most part. They have gotten over 1,500 “diggs” themselves. They are all very helpful in treating your Digg addiction and they are great resources that add to what Digg already gives you. Go try them. You won’t be disappointed!
