Hey, Facebook users – Did you know that you can set up America’s favorite social networking site to send you an e-mail or even a text message if anyone tries to access your account from a new device?
It’s great for that extra layer of security – and I highly recommend it!
Here’s how:
While logged in to Facebook, click the little arrow next to your name, then Account Settings.

Once at the Account Settings control panel, click the security category off to the left, and next to Login Notifications, click Edit.

Now simply choose how you’d like to receive a notification when/if your account is accessed from a new/different computer. Click Save Changes when you’re finished!

APPARENTLY IT ONLY WORKS FOR XP…I HAVE WINDOWS 7 AND I GOT THE FOLLOWING ERROR MESSAGE:
Your current IE settings might make it hard to use login approvals.
It’s probably because:
■
You sometimes clear your cookies.
■
Your browser is set to automatically clear cookies whenever it closes.
■
You use your browser’s “private browsing” or “incognito” mode.
It may take a few days after fixing these issues before you will be able to enable login approvals. You also may need to log out and then log in again after fixing these settings for the changes to take effect.
Visit the Help Center for step-by-step directions on how to fix these settings.

This is the only place I have seen that it will not work with Windows 7. Do you have any updates on that? I have followed all the steps to not have cookies deleted but still get the error. Can you help?
I have the same issue too. Windows 7 system. no clue how to work around this though..
If you read the message from Facebook it clearly says that you might have to wait a few days after fixing the issues that it lists.
This has NOTHING to do with the OS you use (XP, Vista, 7 etc).
I’ve been waiting more than a week… it should state months… which is the length of time i’ve been waiting
It makes absolutely no sense why it would take a few days to resolve a browser issue. I had no problem with setting up Google Authenticator. This is very stupid!
how to fix this?
I think facebook is gathering a phone number database, thats all.
