Facebook: The Trick To Seeing What You Want To See

Monday, July 18th, 2016 by | Filed Under: Social Networking, Using The Internet

Facebook is constantly tweaking its feed to make sure you see what it wants you to see. But sometimes what it thinks you want to look at is not what you care about at all. Especially if you want to see news updates or information from Facebook Pages.  In the next two articles, I’m going to show you how to see who you want and what you want on your page.

I wish there was an option to just see everything in the order it was posted, but that doesn’t exist. Truthfully for many of us, that might be a little overwhelming. Let’s start with learning how to just see your favorite people.

Let’s start with your Facebook feed. Click Home at the top of your browser to get there.

Now you’re going to scroll down the  until you see Friends in the far left column. Hover over Friends until you see the More option. Click on More.

You’ll notice that Facebook has already created some lists for you based on schools, workplaces and the area where you live. But we want something more specific. Select Create List.

Then name it whatever you like.

Start typing the names of people you want to ad. When their name pops up, click on it.

Add as many names to the list as you like. But think hard about the posts you want to see first. If someone is tormenting you with political posts, election year might be a good time to leave them off the list. When you’re finished, just select create.

Now find the list you just created. It should be at the bottom of Friends. Hover over it and then select the gear icon that appears to the far right.

Then choose Add to Favorites.

Now go back to your feed and you’ll find that list displayed under Friends on the left side of the page. Click on it and choose Add to Favorites again.

Your list will now display at the top left of your FB feed. Just select it to only see post from your favorite people.

I’ve recently installed F.B. Purity on my PC. I’m impressed it shows my news feed by most recent and gets rid of all the annoying things I choose not to see.

It currently needs to be added manually, but their help file explains how to add easily do this.
