FCC Moves To Protect Your Internet Privacy

Wednesday, November 9th, 2016 by | Filed Under: Quick Tips, Security Help, Using The Internet

The Federal Communications Commission is cracking down on Internet service providers sharing your private information. The agency voted to implement new rules that restrict ISPs from sharing information such as the race or age of users, financial information, browsing history, or any content of communications without first getting permission from the customer.

These rules apply to Internet service providers like Comcast or AT & T, but not to companies like Google, Apple, or Facebook.

This is a good start but I think they could do more.
I use to be into CB-Radio years ago They had so many rules! A lot of us just gave up on it!

  2. Jadesqr says:

Sure! If it’s anything I want it’s higher Internet cost due to my provider loosing a source of revenue (TPFIC)…

  3. George says:

Sorry, but the rules don’t go far enough. Companies such as Google, Facebook, and Apple
as well as Amazon should have to comply as well. I’ts bad enough to have to put up with all the advertisements as well as having our private information collected and sold, and no consideration to whether or not we want it published. Our rights to privacy should be paramount, not some companies profit at our expense, George

  4. Michael P RUSSELL says:

I agree with George in that the other Companies / Conglomerates such as Facebook, Google & Apple + Amazon should have to comply as the other ISP’s are doing.

Our rights to privacy should be PARAMOUNT!!!
Not making some companies richer by letting them make a Higher profit at our expense.

  5. Gerald Weber says:

Rules won’t matter – those that it isn’t going to apply to will restrict their offerings to only those users that give up their privacy rights to enable them to use their services. Just as they’ve been doing in the past.

“Companies such as Google, Facebook, and Apple
    as well as Amazon”

  6. John Hess says:

The FCC is trying but not doing enough. They can crack down on porn and pass laws that are more heavy weight relating to virus people. Also tax more distributors and manufacturs of internet users that get away with not paying there fair share that a corner business with overhead would have to come up with in order to stay in business. Internet is a media, a way to transfer information and should be treated like that as if it were a radio or tv station.
