Missed Delivery

Paint Job

Anxious to finally get the porch painted, I urged by husband to allow the man that knocked on our door looking for handiwork to do the job.

The man happily agreed to paint it for $50. We were thrilled at our good luck of getting our wide porch painted for a measly $50.

Minutes later there was a knock at the door. “All done” he said.

“Already?” we both said at once.

“Yeah, and by the way, it’s a Lexus not a Porsche”

Each time I’d drive by Carter Shield’s Cabin on the Cades Cove Loop Road (Smoky Mountains), I would kick around ideas for turning it into a cool photo. I shot photos of it in the Spring, Summer, and even Fall, but never quite got what I was going for. It finally occurred to me what was missing – the cabin always looked so “dead” in the photos. 	Tremont Rush The Tremont area of Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of my favorite spots. The middle prong of Little River flows though it and zig zags its way through the boulders and drop offs, constantly coaxing photographers to its banks. This particular area of cascades has always held a certain fascination for me. Getting to it involves a nearly vertical climb down, but it’s well worth the effort (you know, if you don’t kill yourself in the process)... (More)

Message From Beyond

Two professional counselors, Bob and Mary had been in practice together for many years. Throughout their careers they had become personally and professionally inseparable.They were excellent psychotherapists, and had extensive experience with clients with a wide range of presenting problems.

As time passed, their discussions with each other progressed from the profane to the religious. They speculated about the existence and nature of the afterlife. They promised that wichever of them died first would come back to tell the other:

Missing Person

A distraught wife wen to the police station with her next-door neighbor to report that her husband was missing.

The police asked for a description of the missing man.

His wife described him as 6' 4" tall, dark wavy hair, athletic build, weighs about 180 and  very friendly and soft-spoken.

The nieghbor interrupted. "But he's 5' 8", overweight, bald and is very loud and obnoxious.

A New Leaf

A little boy opened the big family bible. He was fascinated as he fingered through the old pages. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages.

"Mama, look what I found," the boy called out.

"What have you got there, dear"?

Flash Flood

During a flash flood in a small town, a young backpacker was perched on top of a house with a  local boy. As they sat watching articles float by in the water, they noticed an old hat go past.

Suddenly, the hat turned and came back, then turned around and went downstream. After it had gone some distance, again it turned and came back. They watched as it did this a number of times.

"Do you see that hat?" said the girl in amazement. "First it goes downstream, then turns around and comes back, then it goes back downstream and then it comes back again."

"Oh, that's nothing, it's only my dad," replied the boy. "This morning Mom said that come hell or high water, he had to mow the lawn today."

A father asked his son, "What is it that hangs on the wall and is green, wet and whistles?"

Each time I’d drive by Carter Shield’s Cabin on the Cades Cove Loop Road (Smoky Mountains), I would kick around ideas for turning it into a cool photo. I shot photos of it in the Spring, Summer, and even Fall, but never quite got what I was going for. It finally occurred to me what was missing – the cabin always looked so “dead” in the photos. 	Tremont Rush The Tremont area of Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of my favorite spots. The middle prong of Little River flows though it and zig zags its way through the boulders and drop offs, constantly coaxing photographers to its banks. This particular area of cascades has always held a certain fascination for me. Getting to it involves a nearly vertical climb down, but it’s well worth the effort (you know, if you don’t kill yourself in the process)... (More)

The poet thought about this for a moment, but he decided against it, seeing that the scientist was obviously a very bright man. He politely turned down the scientist's offer.

The scientist, who was really bored, tried again. "Look, I'll ask you a question, and if you can't answer it, you give me $5. Then you ask me a question, and if I can't answer it, I'll give you $50."

The poet agreed. "Okay," the scientist said, "what is the exact distance between the Earth and the Moon?"

The poet, obviously not knowing the answer, didn't stop to think about the scientist's question.  He took a $5 bill out of his pocket and handed it to the scientist.

The scientist happily accepted the bill and promptly said, "Okay, now it's your turn."

The poet thought about this for a few minutes, then asked, "All right, what goes up a mountain on three legs, but comes down on four?"

The bright glow quickly vanished from the scientist's face. He thought about this for a long time, taking out his notepad and making numerous calculations. He finally gave up on his notepad and took out his laptop to search for the answer. As the plane was landing the scientist gave up. He reluctantly handed the poet a $50 bill.

The poet accepted it graciously, getting ready to stand up. "Wait!" the scientist shouted, "you can't do this to me! What's the answer?"

The poet looked at the scientist and calmly put a $5 bill into his hand.

The middle prong of Little River flows though it and zig zags its way through the boulders and drop offs, constantly coaxing photographers to its banks. This particular area of cascades has always held a certain fascination for me. There were 3 friends stranded in an island.

Taxi Driver

A taxi passenger taps the driver on the shoulder to ask him a question.

The driver screams, loses control of the car, nearly hits a bus, goes up on thesidwalk, and stops inches from a store window. 

For a second, everything goes quiet in the cab, then the driver says, "Look buddy, don't ever do that again. You scared the daylights out of me!"

The passenger apologizes and says, "I didn't realize that a little tap would scare you so much.”

The driver replies, "Sorry, it's not really your fault. Today is my first day as a cab driver. I've been driving a hearse for the last 25 years."

Day At The Zoo

Little Johnny wanted to go to the zoo and pestered his parents for days. Finally his mother talked his reluctant father into taking him.

"So how was it?" his mother asked when they returned home.

"Great," Little Johnny replied.

"Did you and your father have a good time?" asked his mother.

Dog For Sale

This guy sees a sign in front of a house "Talking Dog for Sale."

He rings the bell and the owner tells him the dog is in the back yard. The guy goes into the back yard and sees a mutt sitting there.

"You talk?" he asks."Yep," the mutt replies.

"So, what's your story?"

The mutt looks up and says "Well, I discovered this gift pretty young and I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA about my gift, and in no time they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leader, cause no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping. I was one of their most valuable spies eight years running. The jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger and I wanted to settle down. So I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security work, mostly wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings there and was awarded a batch of medals. Had a wife, a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired."

The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog.

The owner says "Ten dollars."

The guy says he'll buy him but asks the owner, "This dog is amazing. Why on earth are you selling him?"

The middle prong of Little River flows though it and zig zags its way through the boulders and drop offs, constantly coaxing photographers to its banks. This particular area of cascades has always held a certain fascination for me. Getting to it involves a nearly vertical climb down, but it’s well worth the effort (you know, if you don’t kill yourself in the process)... (More)

Holiday Sale

It's 4th of July weekend and a Joe walks into a butcher shop that has a sign in the window saying, "Ground Sirloin: 29 cents per pound."

Joe says, "I'm having a cookout this weekend. I'd like five pounds of your ground sirloin, please."

The butcher shakes his head and says, "Sorry, I'm all out."

Disappointed, Joe goes down the street to another butcher shop and asks, "How much is your ground sirloin?"

The proprietor replies, "It's $3.29 a pound."

"Three twenty nine!" exclaimed Joe. "Just up the street he sells it for 29 cents."

The butcher smiles calmly at Joe and ask, "Does he have any?" "No, he's out of it right now." "Well," says the butcher. "When I don't have any, I can sell it for 19 cents per pound!"

One Way Trip

A couple with three children waited in line at San Francisco's Pier 41 to purchase tickets for a boat trip to Alcatraz.

Others watched with varying degrees of sympathy and irritation as the young children fidgeted, whined, and punched one another.

Weather Report

A newcomer to London arrives on a rainy day. She gets up the next day and it's raining.

A thief and his girlfriend were walking down Main Street when she spotted a beautiful diamond ring in a jewelry store window. "Wow, I'd sure love to have that!" she said.

"No problem, baby," the thief says, throwing a brick through the glass and grabbing the ring.

A few blocks later, his girlfriend was admiring a leather jacket in another shop window. "What I would give to own that!" she said.

"Sure thing, darling," the guy says again, throwing another brick through the window and snatching the coat.

Finally, turning for home, they pass a Mercedes car dealership. "Boy, I would do anything for one of those!" she said to her boyfriend.

Car Trouble

A man's car stalled on a country road one morning. When the man got out to fix it, a cow came along and stopped beside him.
