Firefox 3 Update
It’s been a few days since I’ve told you anything about Firefox 3, so I figured I’d give you a quick update today! I know a lot of you are avid Firefox users, so I’m sure you’re anxious to hear all about what’s been going on with it in the last week or so. As I’m sure you know, the Firefox 3 Release Candidate 1 (RC1) was released on May 16, 2008 and it is currently available for download. The Mozilla company released it to the public in order to get feedback on it and if you helped out with that, you’re very much appreciated!
Since Mozilla has been getting so much good feedback for the RC1, they’re saying the final version should be released sometime in June 2008. (I’ll wait here while you do your happy dance!) Mozilla vice president Mike Schroepfer said more than 1.5 million people downloaded the Firefox 3 RC1 and they’re now just working on going through all of the feedback they have received. He said they’re also in the stage of letting the add ons update so that they’ll be all ready for the final release.
Along with that though, Schroepfer said more release candidates are possible, especially since Firefox 2 had three. “We’re in better shape this time, but there’s no reason to rush this,” he said. All in all, it sounds like the Mozilla team is working very hard to get Firefox 3 up and running and really, either way you look at it, you’re going to be enjoying a brand new Firefox Web browser in no time at all. I don’t know about you, but that makes me want to smile all day long!
