Help!!! I use Windows 7 with Firefox browser. This morning a Search Tab was on my browser that I didn’t install. Took some time to figure out it is a BING search tab. I have looked and looked in both programs and add ons to try and uninstall it, but I am unable to find it to get rid of it. I already use Google and sometimes ASK…I REALLY, REALLY am disliking having this Search tab take up so much space on my tabs space. HOW do I get rid of it???? (I find plenty of help in removing a Bing Search Bar…not just the TAB)
The search bar and search tab is a built-in function of the later versions Firefox and I’m going to look at how they both work. You may see Bing as your first option as a search engine, but if you click the drop-down, you’ll see other options like Google or Yahoo and you can easily switch to search on those platforms.
You will also see the same options if you open a new tab in Firefox and click on your search provider. You can switch to any search provider you prefer.
You can change these tabs pretty easily. Just click the little gear sign in the upper right of the page and your new tabs will come up blank with no search engine.
By default, Firefox comes with Google, Yahoo, Bing, Amazon.com, DuckDuckGo, eBay, Titter and Wikipedia search engines. You can also add particular search engines. From the drop-down menu, choose Manage search engines.
Choose Get more search engines…
And you can choose from a list of options.
You can also adjust the position of search engines in the list or remove them.
You can completely remove the search bar by right-clicking over the the search box and selecting Remove from toolbar.
Hope this helps!
