Under increasing pressure about security concerns for the Flash platform, Adobe has made a move that some think signals the end is near.
The company has changed the name of the animation program in Creative Cloud from Flash Professional to Animate.
Flash Professional is already used to make HTML5 animations. More and more sites are shifting away from Flash towards the HTML5 platform. Adobe says the name change is to reflect the way the program is used. The company is also working on an HTML5 player for desktops. But they do say that they will continue to support Flash.
Some security experts have called on Adobe to set an end-date for their support of Flash, citing security concerns and problems with crashing and slowing down websites.
