This Web site is very interesting and I can’t wait to share the details with you, so let’s dive right in! To get started, you’ll need to register to get the most out of it. Choose the free registration and you’ll need to provide an e-mail address, password, username and agree to their terms. Once you do that, go and check your e-mail and click the activation link (mine came almost instantly). Now, you can truly start your journey!
Here you can search millions of documents for free, as well as, browse select titles. If you click the What’s Free button, you’ll be taken to the articles that are free and you’ll be given access to the search engine on the same page. You can also upload an unlimited amount of images, check out spotlights, story pages and even create your own story page.
You can find easy navigation to the following topics at the top of the page:
Original Documents – By clicking to view the original documents, you will be taken to search engine like results of all the original documents on the site. You can sort them by title or new and updated. The documents in which all of their content is free will be marked that way.
Spotlights – This is a way of drawing attention to interesting images that have been uploaded to the site. Clicking into this section will open search engine like results with the Most Recent on display by default. You can switch this to the Most Viewed by clicking Most Popular above the results.
Story Pages – Here you can share your story with everyone. It’s almost in a blog style and you can even include pictures. You can also view the story pages that others have made. I was actually drawn to these pages more than the rest of the site. Here you will find the lives of soldiers, wives, transcripts of witch trials, as well as, peoples’ thoughts on the wars of the past, tales of immigrants and much more.
I think even with somewhat limited features, the free sections on this site are still full of interesting information, history and images. I know I spent several hours just browsing the Story Pages section. Check it out today!
